BLOG: Bad news for Obama

Tom Jackson
Jun 8, 2011

Let's see. Judging from what's getting the most coverage, the most important news in the U.S. is that a you-know-what in Congress Tweeted a picture of his you-know-what, and Sarah Palin's account of Paul Revere's famous ride may not be strictly accurate. Oh, and there's big news in Ohio, too -- some guy left the football team at OSU.

Here a couple of apparently unimportant things you may have missed:

(1) The U.S. economy actually is getting worse, at least in terms of employment. The unemployment rate has gone up for two months in a row — from 8.8 percent in March, to 9.0 percent in April and then 9.1 percent in May. People who have given up looking for work aren't counted in these numbers, because they are considered no longer in the workforce. People who took a crummy, low-paying job because they can't find a good one also don't figure in the raw numbers.

(2) President Obama's war in Libya apparently is illegal. Or so says lawyer and author Glenn Greenwald.

“Don't ask the rest of us to march to your drumming of wealth redistribution,”   So you cannot spare a dime, not even a dime for the poor, for the elderly, for the sick?  But you have no issue with oil and gas subsidies, corporate tax loopholes, etc. etc. etc.  You’re a real jewel of a fellow.

Since the midterms, we have divisions. It seems to me the majority of the voters wanted division judging by the the landslide victories. It's only a division when you are supporting the other side, I call it a mandate!!

Thank you Bess, how do you liberal union loving people live with yourself, I know this is America and you have a right to be heard, but here?

Union 'zombies' disrupt Special Olympics ceremony...

If it only were a dime not hundreds of dollars to the dysfunctional generational welfare crowd as well as failed policies of the Obummer administration. And by the generational welfare crowd, I mean the core voting bloc for the democratic party.

It's not a division, it's a mandate!!

Trust me, I understand very well what I write (unlike some here).   Simple definitions:   Socialism: State ownership of the mean of production and all property.   Fascism: State ownership and regulation over those means of production and property that it doesn’t own.   Capitalism: Private ownership of the means of production and property.   If it ain’t in private hands, it’s one of the other two. Corporatism (fascism) is the way of the U.S.     And know this, all the actions of the Bush and Obama admins. have taken TBTF and simply created Too Bigger to Fail.  For the most part only Lehman failed, all others were absorbed into other financial institutions or nationalized by the Obama admin.     You appear to be focused far too much on politics and should be looking closer instead at the monetary policies of the Federal Reserve over the past decade or so.   The Fed has been at roughly 0% fed funds rate since ’08. If this don’t eventually lead to hyperinflation, I’ll buy ya a future cup of coffee.   BTW: Eliot Spitzer caused the ouster of Hank Greenberg from AIG. Proof of Spitzer’s accusations never saw the light of day. Mr. Greenberg was a student of risk and took it very seriously. Without his stewardship, AIG wandering into areas that he would have never allowed.   Were you aware that there are over $500 trillion worth of derivatives in the world? The next blow-up is just around the corner.   I say if you want to go back to the Clinton era tax rates then do it for everyone – or none at all.

Yoda? I much preferred the character Yogurt in “Space Balls.”

@ Bess:

I have my charities to which I donate. Some yrs. I donate more or less than in others.

Leavin' it to bureaucrats to decide who gets what leads to corruption and cronyism - kind of like the public union employees votin' for sympathetic Dems who only promise them more, more, and more from the taxpayer trough.

Know this: The wealthy make up 30% of total consumer spending. If consumer spending makes up 70% of U.S. GDP, what do you think increasing the Federal taxes on them is gonna do to GDP and the economy?

People who advocate raising taxes on the wealthy tend to conveniently forget about all the other state and local taxes and fees that they are already paying which have been being increased over the yrs.

In CA, some wealthy will pay over 60% of their income in total taxes; how hard would you work if the socialists only allowed you to keep 40% of everything that you earned?

No one knows why Obama compromised? That’s easy, he is a politician foremost and does not want to lose all his votes.   Equal opportunity and justice for all, amen sister. Now everyone else can put some self discipline into their lives, work real hard to achieve goals in life; work everyday like the majority of us do.   Liberals, they recycle failed socialist ideas, how many times has that worked out. “ Rise up peasants and take the factories, the farms, and the land” The downfall of the mortgage crisis began with liberals wanting lower income owners to have a slice of the American dream. Liberals like B Frank pushed for lower lending criteria with Fan and Fred. He almost admitted it himself, that it swung open unregulated MBS and subprime disaster. But do what a progressive does, blame it all on banks. (not saying banks and wall street were not major players, but people like Frank opened the door)   Economists and business analyst say revenue created by closing tax loopholes is small compared to the amount that could be created by those who pay nothing. I am for fair tax reform, that means everyone from Joe Welfare to GE, remember equal opportunity. But Joe Welfare does not create jobs. Think trading is unfair now, wait until prices go up and foreign companies can control the market share, 90-95% of consumers are outside of the US.   Brutus when I buy groceries, can I get a refund from the person in front of me buying food on Ohio card, then pulling cash out to buy cartons of smokes and a 12 pack; a least they could offer me a a can of brew for my hard work supporting them.

"The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation" - Obama 2007. Why is it ok then to go to Libya? How much did we spend on his cruise missile barrage? Typical liberal/socialist mentality; it applies to you and not me.

Nice he won the peace prize,  based on things he would do in the future. I guess if Arafat can win it, anyone can.

Are two resident  "progressives" they are afraid to call themselves liberals any more.  Proof that misery does love company.....   Prime examples of far left socialist elite. They rant the rant but how many payrolls have they paid, how many personal financial risks have they taken it expand their business?  My guess is zero.  The majority of the far left loons survive either on the public mammary or as hacks of the unions taking the resource of the real hard working middle class.

It is clear that bloggers want to go on and on, paying no attention to declarations, that liberal progressives, liberals, or progressives (i.e. anyone on the political left or far left) are not socialists.  When you make these statements you are only preaching to the choir that wants to believe this.  They do so at great peril because they are creating dissonance when as a nation we need honest communication to solve the Nations problems.

Here is MORE bad news about the president YOU voted for.   What happened to those 1200 United States Marines and TWO war ships sent to Libya by ORDER of the two-bit president??  Oops, you liberals MUST have forgotten all about that!

0bama: "No ground troops are going to Libya."

United States Marine Corp.:  "We have been ordered to Libya"

Well, well.  Your president has placed another LIE on his list of great achievements in being a LIAR!  Amazing isn't it?  Come on freaks, start making up EXCUSES.  That train is never late!  I KNOW you can do it.  "Oh, 0bama works so hard.  He is going to save the nation.  He needs to play more golf.  Boo, hoo, hoo."  Ha! Ha!  The republicans can NOT do a thing about it because they only have a majority in the House.  The democracks still have the majority in the Senate and White House.  THAT is why 0bama is not being impeached for being in violation of the War Powers Act.  The ONLY thing John Boehner (R-OH) can do is try and CUT OFF the funding for being in and bombing Libya.  The president just does what ever he wants.  Exactly like a socialist, liberal.  We have PLENTY of money!  Now WHO would have figured?  Go liberals, Go democracks, Go 0bama!  Four more years, FOUR MORE YEARS!  Ha! Ha!

I thought liberals pushed for the following: Government needs to regulate all areas of the economy (free market and capitalism only benefit the rich) Public schools are the best way to educate, (last part of the communist manifesto) Support embryonic research, but lab animals are off limits Government should control gas, electric, and utilities, big government is good. Government controlled health care Amnesty for all illegals, then complain about low wages or no jobs Religion has no place in government, unless your Muslim or gay then its ok, we don’t want to trample on your rights. Higher taxes for the rich, just do not ask those who pay nothing to put in their share. Welfare is great, why reform it or make people accountable The US military should submit to the UN/EU. (this is one I despise) Individuals do not need guns, the government will protect you. Well who will protect you from them; Nazi Germany come to mind. (that’s the worst one) Everyone is equal, redistribute the wealth, why even work hard then? Land owners are evil, eminent domain for green space and the greater good of mankind.   Everything listed is from a “liberal website” and you see no resemblance to some socialist? Several historic leaders come to mind. What usually follows socialism? Take America down from the inside out, pinko’s.
brutus smith

 Which liberal website pat? Gateway pundit?

Once again the socialist proclaim  Iam not a liberal socialist, I am a progressive socialist.

Bess: You will never change their minds, because they want you to believe that they have all the answers--money. Their money and nobody has a right to it. They earned it by their own sweat, and you are trying to take it. That is where the Constitutional argument comes from.

They believe in Social Darwinism. With this comes the relentless attack on the unemployeed, indigent, working poor, unions, and anyone else who is "other".

Even when faced with the fact that this county's infrastructure and the middle class was built on a progressive tax system and the lives and sweat of blue collar workers, they blame the very people who built it.

Blame for what? Trying to earn a wage that can raise a family? That fact is that they are fighting, tooth and nail, posting day and night, to brain wash angry people. The anger comes from the knowledge that the American dream is dying. What they refuse to admit is that it is dying because they themselves are slackers. Ayn Rand was wrong. Greed is evil, and we are seeing its result.

Why after two years of Obozo we have a midterm election that was an historic turnaround in the state legislative bodies and the U.S. House and we must not seek disonance and work together? People you lost, get over it, huddle up in your little covens and sing Kumbaya!

When it helps the monied it is called capitalism.   (Cororate welfare/subsidies, tax abatements, etc.)                                                                                               When the majority of honest hard working Americans get help from a system they paid into it is called socialism by some.                                                                                                                                                   The majority of combat personel are from humble/modest means.                                                            The majority  of rule makers (leaders) have a non-military/monied background, & a documented history of draft avoidance.        Make military service manditory for all qualified Americans peacetime/wartime.                     Make a flat tax for all with no shelters for all.                     Basic math.....everyone pay their fair share.   Eliminate the upper tier of career criminals nationwide, saving honest Americans from housing scum.        Protect American's interest on the world market  &   make it illegal for corporate dynasties to play "shell games"        Allow the use  of Rudolph Diesel's creation (Diesel engine) as it was designed over a hundered years ago,   freeing up America's need for foriegn product (oil).               Utilize America's food supply( that we the people paid for),   as a lever when dealing with foriegn counties.  (Kinda like OPEC only America has the say on its product)     I see solutions    -   not problems.       Du hast mich?

Hey eriemom, I believe in the American dream, I believe in earning it. Yes the wealth I earned is mine, and if I can do it anyone can.   It has always been instilled in me, work hard to get what you want, what’s wrong with that? Enjoy the fruits of your hard labor. You want some pie, get off your can and get it, like so many others. I pay taxes, what about all those that don’t?   I know money is not everything, nor it is the answer, ultimately you have to be happy, and that’s freedom. Spend some time in a country that doesn’t have it, then you may appreciate it.   This country was built with blue collar workers, no sh$$ genius. Our relatives slaved away to help build this county; with hard work and values.The key word is work. America was great, people worked hard, we ruled the world. They said the pledge, raised the flag,believed in God, and serving their country; more important things to worry about than Joe marrying John, or tip-toeing around in fear of offending someone, politically correct gobbly-gook.   Yes the American dream is dying; you liberals are killing it! Take responsibility for your actions. You want to live in some big government nanny state? You want the government to control your life; be careful what you wish for. Slacker, sure, ok, I bet my hours worked per week against yours. You want to earn a living, good pay to raise a family? I believe in that, go get it. You expect a $95k/yr job to fall in your lap without working for it or investing no effort? What’s wrong with a lower paying job being used as a stepping stone to something better, people want rewards without any effort.   Social Darwinism, nice try. Socialism leads to communism, do your homework; Lenin. All this socialism, progressive, cowsh; will be nothing short of communism look at history. A government that is powerful enough to control everything, is powerful enough to take all your rights from you. I would not expect you to stand up and fight, I know liberals hate guns. Your political correctness makes me sick. If America and capitalism is so bad; buy a ticket to China.   Kurt, I agree, fair tax for all, and charge the world the same price for ‘grain’ as we pay for oil. You can not knock corporate welfare, without knocking Obama, the king of bailouts.

 You try to post some logical things Eriemom and people like stupfuss and patriot upchuck all over it.

 eriemom writes:

“The anger comes from the knowledge that the American dream is dying. What they refuse to admit is that it is dying because they themselves are slackers.”   So the achievers who are rewarded for their risk taking and accomplishments are “slackers” and that’s why the “American dream is dying”?

Do you actually believe this drivel?

@ bess:

Not a socialist? Kindly read Karl Marx's 10 "measures" from his "Communist Manifesto" and tell me how many of them you agree or somewhat agree with:

1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.

2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.

3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.

4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.

5. Centralisation of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.

6. Centralisation of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State.

7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.

8. Equal liability of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.

9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country.

10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labour in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, &c, &c.

 BTW: Marx and Engels used the terms "socialist" and "communist" interchangeably.

brutus smith

 Anyone who disagrees with the birther/deather/full time right wingnut is either a Marxist, Socialist, Communist. Do we really want a private firm operating our military, our police and fire, our water supply, our communications network? I don't think so.

Wherever there is a parallel between the Beatitudes and Prayer of St Francis with the Marx’s Big 10 that your provide, then well yes I agree with it.

Matthew 5:3-10.Beatitudes

Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Verse 3) Blessed are the meek: for they shall possess the land. (Verse 4) Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted. (Verse 5) Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after justice: for they shall have their fill. (Verse 6) Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. (Verse 7) Blessed are the clean of heart: for they shall see God. (Verse 8) Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. (Verse 9) Blessed are they that suffer persecution for justice' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (Verse 10)

Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

However socialism is defined as an economic system in which the MEANS OF PRODUCTION are publicly or commonly owned and controlled co-operatively, or a political philosophy advocating such a system.  As a liberal and/or progressive liberals and/or progressives (pick your term) I do not believe in the control the means of production.

So the State is God?

You do know that the early Christians were communists don’t you? All property was held in common.

Like later authoritarian States, God struck dead those that didn’t share:

Another "oops!" for the Clown Prince.

"Companies Spend on Equipment, Not Workers":

"Workers are getting more expensive while equipment is getting cheaper, and the combination is encouraging companies to spend on machines rather than people."
