The Sandusky History blog at Sandusky Library has just posted an old picture of Columbus Avenue in the middle of downtown Sandusky, lit up for Christmas.

The photo likely was taken in the 1930s by a prominent Sandusky photographer, Ernst Niebergall, the blog says. The posting includes blowups of portions of the photo, emphasizing the stores that used to line Columbus, such as J.C. Penney, Montgomery Ward and Denzer's Books and Gifts.

Clicking the "Christmas" label at the end of the posting reveals other old time Christmas photos in Sandusky.
