Ohio's first lady headed for Sandusky

There have possibly been other Ohio first ladies as charming as Frances Strickland, but it's doubtful there have been any as entertaining. When she's come to north-central Ohio for political visits, she has told funny stories and also sung folk songs, accompanying herself on the guitar.

Her upcoming visit to Sandusky, though, is for a serious purpose -- to visit Erie County's Family and Children First Council. Gov. Ted Strickland's wife is visiting all 88 Family and Children's Councils across the state, said Fran Bergmoser, director of the Erie County council and the Help Me Grow program.

Her visit to Sandusky is tentatively set for 10 a.m. to noon June 6, depending on whether local folks are available to meet with her.

There's no word on whether she'll bring her guitar.

"I haven't asked her," Bergmoser said. "You never know."
