Verizon says: Will U help?

Cell phone provider Verizon is asking Ohio residents to support earthquake and cyclone relief by doing what comes naturally for many folks these days -- sending text messages.

Beginning Thursday, and continuing until the end of July, Verizon customers who want to help can send a message to 4SAVE (i.e., 47283) with the key word "quake" to contribute to earthquake relief in China or with the key word "cyclone" to aid cyclone relief in Myanmar, the country formerly known as Burma.

Texters will receive a reply asking them to confirm they want to donate $5 to Save the Children. If you like, you can send four more text messages to donate a total of $25. The donation will show up on your phone bill. Donations to Save the Children are tax deductible.
