Tips for saving on gas

Here's a couple of ideas on how to save a little money on gas:

MSN Autos posts prices for local gas stations here. (Thank our chief photographer, Jason Werling, for the tip.)

Edmunds.com, the car site, tested various theories a few years ago on how to improve your car's gas mileage. Their findings are here. The executive summary: Driving slower works, using cruise control works, driving in an easygoing manner is useful and idling for long periods of time is a bad idea. It doesn't matter much whether you turn on your air conditioning or have your tires filled with just the right amount of air.

DO NOT BUY ANY GASOLINE IN THE SANDUSKY AREA BECAUSE THE DISTRIBUTOR IN THIS AREA JACKS UP THE PRICES AND GOUGES AREA CUSTOMERS. We buy our gasoline while traveling to and from the area and save an average of 10 to 20 cents per gallon on each fill up.

I've begun walking to work 3 out of the 5 days of the week and it's saving big and you can't beat burning calories. Almost 5 miles a day and I feel healthier and happier than I ever did just driving. For those within a decent distance to work, give it a shot.

That is so true. Sam's club has the lowest fuel prices in town. I never buy from any vendor in town.

I noticed that gas was 17 cents cheaper in Vermillion. Why is that? The stations are still in erie county. unfortunately, my job requires me to drive everywhere I go.

I still find it brilliant that some people will drive 20-25 miles out of their way (wasting $3-$4 in gas) just to save 5 cents a gallon.
