As you might guess, the slowdown in the economy seems to be having an effect on tourism in Sandusky.
City commissioner Craig Stahl is the commission's liaison to the city's audit finance committee. As Stahl pointed out at Monday's city commission meeting, income taxes are up 3 percent so far this year, but admissions taxes from Cedar Point are down 11 percent and hotel/motel taxes are down 10 percent. Still, the last current cash balance was healthy: $2,063,764, Stahl noted.
