The annual “Day in the Outdoors” for area young people at the Joe Steinen Wildlife Area was rained out in June, so organizers are trying again.

The event for young people who want to get a taste of pioneer life will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Steinen Wildlife Area, on Cleveland Road between Huron and Sandusky.

Young folks are invited to try shooting arrows, wielding a tomahawk, fishing, identifying herbs and other outdoor skills. There’s no admission fee for the family event, stresses Linda Steinen, vice president of the West Huron Youth Club.
