The Washington Post has a hot story today saying that the Democratic governor of Virginia, Timothy M. Kaine, is in "serious" talks with Barack Obama about serving as the Illinois senator's running mate.
The tone of the article implies that Kaine will be the choice unless something comes up, but it also names other possibilities, including Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, U.S. senators Christopher Dodd, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Hagel (a Republican) and Jack Reed, and former Sen. Sam Nunn.
I haven't seen any good stories lately about who McCain might pick.
My boss the city editor read this blog posting and exclaimed, "Get a woman, Obama!" I told her Sebelius would supply a woman to the ticket and would not bring any negatives, since nobody in the 49 other states outside Kansas knows who she is.
