Unemployment rises again in Ohio

Unemployment has jumped again in Ohio, from 6.6 percent in June to 7.2 percent in July, according to a report released today by Ohio Job and Family Services.

The U.S. unemployment rate in July was 5.7 percent.

Figures for Erie County and other state counties will be released next week, and as usual we'll report on the new numbers in the newspaper.

The June rate was the highest in the state since 1993, 15 years ago, so expect to see the new numbers to become fodder for partisan press releases.

As stark as the numbers are that measure unemployment in Ohio--or any where--the numbers themselves dehumanize the reality of the people represented by those numbers.

Maybe you should give the figures to the morons that are running Erie County who think the taxpayers have an inexhaustible supply of money to support all their Levies.
