Local students who want to attend Saturday's concert of the Firelands Symphony Orchestra are being offered free tickets.

The concert will be 8 p.m. Saturday at the Sandusky State Theatre, with an optional talk by conductor Carl Topilow at 7 p.m.

Students K-12 who show up at least 30 minutes before the concert at the theatre box office and show a student ID can get a free ticket, said Jamie Steinemann, executive director of the orchestra. Sandusky/Erie County Community Foundation is supporting the offer.

Saturday's concert will include classical guitarist Jaxon Vieaux performing a guitar concerto, Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez." Beethoven's "Fifth Symphony" and Brahms' "Academic Festival Overture" also will be on the program.

Good tickets remain for adults who want to buy advance tickets for the show, Steinemann said.
