Santa Claus books another Sandusky gig

Santa Claus is pretty busy this month, but perhaps because Sandusky has such a rich Christmas tradition, he’s agreed again to put in regular appearances in downtown Sandusky.

He’s available to chat with children at the Cookie House in Washington Park from 5-8 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday.

He’ll be back, keeping the same hours, the other two weekends before Christmas.

Kids visiting Santa will walk away with a coloring book, crayons and candy canes, thanks to fund raising by local volunteers who pitch in to help Santa, said Dale Sartor, a member of the Sandusky Community Celebrations Council.

If your kid is modern and wants to send letters to Santa using the Internet, try our Christmas Web site, Firelands Christmas, which includes a section for composing letters to the Jolly Old Elf.

I saw a lighted crèche on someone's front lawn with only a snowman and a Santa Claus figure standing in attendance.

Mixed metaphors are the best.
