The U.S. Supreme Court has voted 5-4 to overturn the most controversial decision by Sonia Sotomayor. The court ruled that white firefighters in Connecticut who had passed a promotion test were unfairly denied promotions. Sotomayor had ruled against an appeal by the firefighters.
I'm not sure how many Sandusky Register readers pay attention to what's happening in Cuyahoga County, but there's been a huge scandal in the county government for months, with numerous stories in the Cleveland Plain Dealer about an FBI investigation and obvious waste of taxpayer dollars.
Much of what passes for economic development these days seems to consist of sitting around and waiting for Uncle Sam to bail you out, or demanding that politicians in Columbus or Erie County solve all of our problems.
