Politics is rotten

But the Democratic Party mailer, in my opinion, wrongfully and deceptively suggests the Register's editorial board favors Erie County treasurer JoDee Fantozz, the incumbent Democrat, in her race against Republican Jeff Krabill, by quoting statements made by a Krabill political foe and attributing them to the Register.

It's deceptive. It's underhanded. It's intellectual property used entirely out of context to deceive others. It's sleazy. Chris Redfern is the chair of the Ohio Democratic Party. He's also a candidate for the 89th District statehouse seat being vacated by fellow Democrat Dennis Murray Jr. – his safe seat – the one Redfern was first elected in 1999.

All politics is rotten.

I agree with the title of this article. I just received a mailer from "Independent Women's Forum" that states that "The New Health Care law will raise taxes and there still would be 30 million uninsured".

The truth is that if there are ANY uninsured, it's people who choose to not participate - NO ONE is denied coverage. The flier also doesn't mention that before the new health care law went into effect, the 30 million (which is clearly a number they picked out of thin air) would simply go to the ER for all health care issues (which certainly costs more than a visit to a family doctor). They also don't mention that WE end up paying for the cost of all those ER visits by uninsured people. With the new system, if they refuse to be responsible financially for their own care, they are forced to pay for that care through a fine. The end result is that WE don't end up paying for 100% of their care.

We have the same type of system already in place for auto insurance. Anyone who drives, who therefore might have an auto accident, is required to have liability insurance, so as not to be a financial burden on others. By the same token, anyone who is alive, who therefore might have need for medical services (which we all will at some point), should be required to have medical coverage, so as not to be a financial burden on others.

One would think that conservatives - who always speak out against supposed freeloaders - would be in favor of a health care system that makes all of us more responsible for our own care, and makes it harder for freeloaders to leech off others.

How about the 15 or so million illegal aliens here, that Obama let stay, that are a huge blight on our social systems? Who pays for them? They need to be deported, according to the laws we have, but No! That would cut Obamas voter base! Then when they can't pay their fines, they'll be put in our prison "hotels", and continue to drain the system! This plan is flawed, but you sadly believe its the answer.....we lose again!!

@Westerhold,

You were deceived by McClung. I have online contact with Salvatore who says that Shenigo wants to give millions of taxpayer dollars to a private ferry boat company. Why should taxpayer money go to a private company? Why Matt would you endorse Shenigo? Give away public money to a rich millionaire? Why?

Simple reason not to vote Krabill---- He appears to be a "run for some political office until I win" type of politician.

Second, he tends to make moves to benefit only himself--recall him stepping down from the Sandusky School system so he could benefit from tax abatement for his still unsold condos on East Water Street.

another reason not to vote for Krabill are all the shady things going on in the school system. I wonder what are the reasons for decisions made and go unannounced. What are they hiding?

Yellow journalism promotes rotten politics. Journalists should report the news and not make up the news. Yellow journalists hide the truth, spread lies and deceive the people. Those who try to expose the truth and lies are ridiculed and punished. Has anyone at the Sandusky Register ever won the Pulitzer Prize?
