Public has a right to know

Dear Mr. Murray:

Below please find a comment posted this morning at sanduskyregister.com. This is just one among several "leaked" allegations I've heard previously about my alleged nefarious involvement in Nuesse-gate.

So let's see, we at the Register secretly tape-recorded conversations, according to commissioner Julie Farrar, and we also secretly listened in on private conversations over a speakerphone. Is that your experience of how we do business? Seems to me you could have dismissed both assertions the moment they were made.

Are these the types of allegations you and fellow commissioners approved for inclusion in the integrity probe? Was there a truth here that taxpayers (the CLIENT) needed to have uncovered? Or was the agenda to obsfucate the truth with as many spurious allegations as possible? How much mud will be thrown up against the wall before we know what will stick?

The entire Murman report, with any and all audio or video digital recordings or tapes that were made, any notes and all other materials should be immediately made available to the client. Every scrap of paper, including the Kleenex upon which Mr. Murman blew his nose, needs to be made public. Transparency is transparency. City officials are either being transparent or they are not. Any partial report that has been delivered to the city also should be made immediately available to the public. The balance of any report can be given to the public when attorney Michael Murman returns later

this month from his vacation.

The Register has made this request in an effort to give your constituents (the CLIENT) all available information with regards to this serious matter. I hope you and your fellow commissioners support this request. Withholding this information from the public based on an attorney-client privilege seems

to fly in the face of the transparency to which you have so often referred.

I apologize if I am being a little testy today, and I mean no disrespect. I likely am almost as tired of this story as you and your fellow commissioners are. I've also included a second posting that was made this morning on the Elsebeth Baumgardner goes to prison story that helped snarl my mood.

Sincerely,

Matt Westerhold

please note.. don icsman "rarely" renders a legal decision on municipal law. for 10 years squires, sanders & demspey, a cleveland law firm have handled MUCH of the legal work for sandusky. outsourcing is the reaon d. icsman has remained in power. his shell game on paying for these services is a work of art. keep the cost hidden by raiding dept. budgets
and nobody knows the real cost. the nuesse scam and the housing dept. fiasco are two examples of hiding true expenses..and the beat goes on...

That meeting at the fire station was all pre-deranged. All of your rants hear will not clench my thirst for facts. When you right stories, you seem to take things out of contest and write suppository remarks. A lot of your writing shows frigments of your imagination. tt is right about you, you are a lazy bum that refuses to seek the facts. Get off your lazy bum and go scoop. Maybe you can set the truth free which will be a detergent for dirty politics and corruption. "

I REALLY hope all those mistakes were an attempt at humor

Yes, it was all meant for humor. It was sarcasm because Matt misspelled the word obfuscate. Somethings have to be fully explained to some people. :)

This is so sad. I grew up here and never realized what a pathetic place it was to be.

Politicians who polarize this city in search of their own self importance. Elected officials who cry "transparency" and practice opacity. Citizens who are ready to torment and crucify at the drop of a hat. People who are both juvenile and delusional in the way the speak and behave regarding the lives and beliefs of others.

A place where spelling errors become a platform for ridicule. And stupidity becomes an open opportunity to practice bigotry and hate.

A place where a person dare not post their name, because they cannot be sure if you are their neighbor and your narcissistic behavior leaves them wondering what could be next. A place where it is better to fear your friend than to trust in the people you have known for your entire life.

This is Sandusky and Sandusky, I am one of you. And I am ashamed.

Matt is ridiculed on a daily basis because he has decided to take on the entire city governement, without being armed with ANY FACTS. It is this simple.....if someone commits a crime and you talk to ONLY them, of course they are going to say they are being picked on. If you take up their side based on ONLY that, then you have no ethics and you become a puppet. This is what Matt Westerhold is. He is not a real journalist and he has shown that over the past few weeks. He thought he would further his career by snuggling up to Kimmie in her time of need and thought he could help her out at the same time. All he has done, is made a mockery out of this whole situation and allowed her to continue to get paid for doing nothing. I mean let's look at this way, what if Matt Westerhold could have helped her get her job back who do you think she would have run to everytime she had something to say....well it all backfired in his face and I love it. Unless he owns the SR, I think he should be run out of town with Kim. He has brought shame to that paper, that was running on fumes before all this. The Lorain Journal talks more highly of Law Enforcement than the SR ever has. Am I the only one who finds it funny that two of our officers were on the front page of the Lorain Journal for the LE Memorial and that same day the SR was running LE through the mud again...are they stupid???

AMEN to that!

Someone should try to go and blog in the latest Kline story, there were just about 8 blogs that were deleted as soon as they went on here. They get touchy if you are not a Nuesse supporter. Why is that?

Anonymous

SR is up very late deleting blogs.

The RE: RE: JUST ANOTHER ONE OF US IS MY COMMENT TOO.

Post below is mine too

Keep up the GREAT work Matt! These city officials can't stand the fact that YOU are doing your job in trying to bring to the public light, the nonsense that they are trying to escape with! I for one, would love to KEEP reading what you have to say!

Anonymous

Wonderful suggestion! The thing is, by the time someone would request such, the information will be most likely be deleted! Perhaps you should have suggested this via a phone call to Matt. I hope Matt reads this and does exactly what you suggested!

bye bye kimmie

It seems the Murman report is holding up everything and had the investigation been done in a timely manner, our city could have saved tons of money and a whole lot of grief. My guess is that Murman only put in a few hours a week on this or it would not have taken this long to investigate one person. I would question the amount of hours his agency devoted to this a week and the way the investigation was conducted with adertising for people to come forward with any dirt on her. This is coupled with Kline's slow reading of the report and the seriousness of the matter to render a decision of whether or not to keep the chief. I would hold Icsman accountable for not monitoring the progress of this investigation so as to quickly devote the time to not dragging the investigation on and on. If we can outsource the housing department, we certainly can outsource the law department. I am for going back to a part-time attorney to get us through the basic daily operation of our legal work and outsource the rest of it to an firm, competitively bidding the contract out, to a firm that specializes in city law. I believe with all the outsourcing Icsman does and the salary he gets paid for outsourcing most of his work out, that it isn't in the best interst of the city to keep him on full time anymore and the commissioners need to look at this and make a move on it.

Just wanted to see if this blog stays...all of my blogs keep getting deleted.

Anonymous

Matt must have already deleted "Open records law"? or am I missing it? Seems that all of the blogs that speak the truth get deleted. There was a VERY good blog in yesterday's article that didn't last too long here at all last night. EVERY time I asked what happened to it and every blog of mine after that got deleted last night. SR was up late deleting.

" All you "Nuesse Followers" who are demanding to know what she is being accused of....why dont you ask her or her joke of an attorney??? The moron knows now what she is being accused of, so why has SHE not made it public??? Uhm maybe cause she knows if does she will lose her "support"???? The city manager and those invloved are no longer the ONLY Ones who knows....she does....so why hasnt she run to Westerhold and pleaded her case?? Was she told not to? If so, then I guess she is following the advice of her "Attorney" either way the woman (and I use that term loosley) knows what she has been accused of, so ask her to tell you if you want to know so bad......... "

VERY good idea! Buuut, do you think she will tell the truth? Hmm. ;)

@ Hey Matt Answer this... post on May 18, 2008 4:05 PM:

I am a resident of Sandusky and I am on the fence about this whole ordeal. I want to know ALL the facts before I decide for or against the chief.

With that said, it seems that you have some "inside" information about this entire ordeal. Please tell us. Inquiring minds would love to know what the he*l is going on here. If you know what she is being accuesed of, please tell us. I for one am sick and tired of waiting for this stupid report to be made public.

You say, "The moron knows now what she is being accused of, so why has SHE not made it public???" and, "The city manager and those invloved are no longer the ONLY Ones who knows....she does....so why hasnt she run to Westerhold and pleaded her case??"

So it sounds like YOU know what is going on. Please enlighten us so we know whether to jump on the Nuesse band wagon, or the anti-Nuesse band wagon.

Or is it that YOU can't spill any beans just like SHE can't spill any beans.

This IS a very interesting (and frustrating) situation.

So please - tell us what is in that report!

By the way... are you Matt Kline....or Don Icsman....or a city cop....or Murray...or Stahl............Who are YOU that you have this inside information?

Inquiring minds want to know the truth; so don't hold back....spill all out Big Boy! ! ! ! !

Anonymous

Hey SR...How about an IP address for the "Hey Matt Answer this... post on May 18, 2008 4:05 PM."

They obviously have some inside info.

Anonymous

Obviously they must not want to tell it or can't. But like they said, why don't you all ask Nuesse?

Anonymous

Have you tried getting any reports from a government agency? With the Freedom Of Information Act it still takes for ever and they seem to be dragging the feet even more now days.I have been waiting, for an U.S. Army Corps of Engineers report from last September about my property, while my property erodes away. These types of delays makes me think that "OUR" government is hiding something or they are WRONG and just won't admit it.

Anonymous

I'm telling you people, get a grip on this IP stuff, YOUR CLUELESS!!!!!!

Get over it and stop the complaining. If you're so worried about privacy want do you allow our federal gov't to snoop on every phone call and email that gets placed or sent in the U.S.?

Huh? Yeah, thats right, you don't care about real privacy but when somebody mentions IP address you freak out like a hooker in church.

Anonymous

This is nothing other than a cat-n-mouse game. Kinda like Tom & Jerry! Whether for or against the Chief, or the Commissioners, let the investigative report be read and a decision rendered. Isn't that what Mr. Kline is being paid to do? Then go from there! If the Chief ends up having to fight for her job, she already has a lawyer retained! Supposedly one of the best, for sure one of the most expensive! Sure hoping the city won't have to pay for that as well! Maybe that's why Mr. Kline is taking his time in rendering a decision?

Anonymous

Crandall to step down on Friday. He has delivered his official letter of resignation to city hall.

@ "Hey Matt Answer this"

Come on dude, your post on May 18 at 4:05 sounded like you had all the inside information on Nuesse. Tell us what it is.

Inquiring minds want to know the truth; so don't hold back....spill it all out Big Boy! ! ! ! !........or don't you have the BA*LS to do it?

Anonymous

It appears to me that Kline should be investigated for the inept and possible corrupt way he has handled the Neusse investigation.

Was her alleged wrong doings so felonious that he could have discussed the allegations with her and corrected them before blowing up in the communities face ?

It appears to me Kline is over his head and the Commissioners should consider replacing him.

Anonymous

How does a city manager take so long trying to come to a decision of how he is going handle the end result of the report? Is the city manager capable of making a decision? We need a decision rendered so the city knows what it is up against. Either way, one career has been destroyed and a lawsuit will be filed. I don't look for the chief to come back because she has no support from her bosses and so much hate coming from the employees she serves over that she won't be able to function. We all know what is coming, just do it and get it over with. The city needs to take its lumps and prepare for the storm that is about to hit. Kline needs to call an executive session to tell his bosses what is in the report and what he intends to do and go from there. The commissioners also must think about whether to keep Kline on as he has cost the city a great deal of money. We need to have a clause in the city manager's contract that there will be a year's probation and if his management is not up to par, the city can let him go during the probationary period. It is obvious, Kline doesn't know the first thing when dealing with personnel problems. The IMA needs to stay clear until the report and Kline's decision comes down. They should not interfere with the process until it is over.

Anonymous

It appears to me that neither one of you have a clue on what you are talking about. You are not the city manager for a reason, Mr. Kline is the city manager! I am SURE that he knows what is going on here and I am SURE he knows what he is doing in handling it. So why don't all of you "know-it-all" people just BACK off and let him do the job he was hired to do. What is SOOOO hard about that to understand?! In other words, BUTT OUT.
