Public has a right to know

Dear Mr. Murray:

Below please find a comment posted this morning at sanduskyregister.com. This is just one among several "leaked" allegations I've heard previously about my alleged nefarious involvement in Nuesse-gate.

So let's see, we at the Register secretly tape-recorded conversations, according to commissioner Julie Farrar, and we also secretly listened in on private conversations over a speakerphone. Is that your experience of how we do business? Seems to me you could have dismissed both assertions the moment they were made.

Are these the types of allegations you and fellow commissioners approved for inclusion in the integrity probe? Was there a truth here that taxpayers (the CLIENT) needed to have uncovered? Or was the agenda to obsfucate the truth with as many spurious allegations as possible? How much mud will be thrown up against the wall before we know what will stick?

The entire Murman report, with any and all audio or video digital recordings or tapes that were made, any notes and all other materials should be immediately made available to the client. Every scrap of paper, including the Kleenex upon which Mr. Murman blew his nose, needs to be made public. Transparency is transparency. City officials are either being transparent or they are not. Any partial report that has been delivered to the city also should be made immediately available to the public. The balance of any report can be given to the public when attorney Michael Murman returns later

this month from his vacation.

The Register has made this request in an effort to give your constituents (the CLIENT) all available information with regards to this serious matter. I hope you and your fellow commissioners support this request. Withholding this information from the public based on an attorney-client privilege seems

to fly in the face of the transparency to which you have so often referred.

I apologize if I am being a little testy today, and I mean no disrespect. I likely am almost as tired of this story as you and your fellow commissioners are. I've also included a second posting that was made this morning on the Elsebeth Baumgardner goes to prison story that helped snarl my mood.

Sincerely,

Matt Westerhold

Every time I think that this mess can't get much worse, it does. May I ask why would the SR post people's IP address? THAT is unbelieveable to me.

When you put up an open forum for anyone to write anything, regardless of whether or not it is true, and without requiring them to sign their name, don't start crying when you don't like what is said. This forum is nothing more than a bathroom wall, and unfortunately Matt, its your guilty pleasure.

Matt you seem to want all these answers, yet you have yet to answer any of ours...or are you "Not taking questions" like at the "Town Hall" meeting? Since when is it the job of the local newspaper to pick sides when it comes to this stuff? As I said yesterday, arent you supposed to be un biased, ESPECIALLY on matters that you have no idea about. You have ONLY heard Kim's side, because for some reason the City Manager and Commissioners, dont think you are a priority. So they are going to do this investigation right, so they can send her packing like she deserves. Whats sad is the front page of the LORAIN JOURNAL showed a picture of Ret. Ofc. Ronald Susana and Capt. Paul Sigsworth in front of the Police Officers Memorial in SANDUSKY, yet the Sandusky Register is continually bashing law enforcement. This is like the community downing the entire staff of the SR for your sadistic views. You say you are getting tired of this story like the rest of us, yet YOU write about it everyday. It is also funny that have yet to deny being at Kim's house the day this story broke, the only thing you have denied, is recording it. I wish you would start answering the questions of your "clients" instead of dodging them. Every story you write about this subject gives us the opportunity to bash you, like you bash everyone else...

Matt would you do EVERYONE a favor and just move on to another city. How do you sleep at night knowing you are dividing a city in half, by reporting on stuff you have no idea about. Had Kim not run to the NewsPaper with this, it would have been handled discreetly. She went to you guys because she wanted to make a circus out of this and she knew you would help her. Now you have NO idea what she is being accused of yet, you are defending her. What kind of sense does that make foe a newspaper editor?? I mean does this further your career? When Mel Burns was going through this, nothing close to this was done. However, because she is a woman and you knew you could get a lot of public support, you took this and ran with it. Then you start blaming the city manager and commissioners for dragging her through the mud? Last time I checked the SR is not owned by the city. Once all this comes out and she is let go and everyone knows what this woman did, I will be demanding that you apologize on here!!!! Trust me Matt, I am not the ONLY One who feels this way. You and these so called ministers who have decided to back a woman who has done some pretty bad things.....wow....she must have SOME influence. I would just really like to know what you could possibly gain by turning your back on the city government. As my heading states, this city deserves better than you Matt, they deserves someone who is going to report the news without bias...

Re; Sandusky Deserves Better
You want to slam Matt because he supposedly, in your mind, is slanted towards Nuesse, you make claims about "and everyone knows what this woman did" and "a woman who has done some pretty bad things", but would you please make a list for us as to what she has done so bad. You must have seen the report that everyone is waiting to see so please enlighten us.

Keep up the good work. You are doing more for this city than any commissioner has ever done. Please keep us informed and keep the pressure on them. Thank you Matt for your dedication and for finding out the truth. Sue them if they don't make the documents public. You have my 100% full support!

Where did the SR publish someone's IP address? I don't see that anywhere.

If a report was available on Friday, why is it already Monday evening an no report has been delieved to the newspaper to share with all taxpayers and voters? The only conclusion that can be drawn is that the city commissioners are hiding something from the voters.....but why? It seems that the only force in the city serving the taxpayers and voters is the newspaper and the challenges it presents to the city commissioners.

You people are all just jealous because Matt is a hottie. Leave him alone. He is doing a great job. AND he is cute!

Murray and Farrar are in my opinion, jealous that Matt doesn't sport a mullet at they do.

Matt, when the report comes out and you find out who made these claims against you, will you feel the same way? I will be watching. I think you may be surprised who made these claims against you. Please, go on the record that these are all lies. Then when the report comes out, I want to see if you call this person a liar.

Well said Matt.Really what do you have to gain from playing favorites? It is refreshing to see someone stand up to these miscreant's.Justice need's to be carried out swiftly. It's laughable that people think you just want to sell paper's.It show's how shallow the thinking is out there. How about contacting U.S.Attorney General's office i'am sure they can get to bottom of this blatant disregard for transparency.

I'd also like to add...where is Bob Runner? Pay him whatever he demands and let him re-take the helm of the SPD. Enough of this stupid circus.

How about taking a lie detector test to prove Julie wrong?

Obsfucate?

What the heck is that? Put your thesaurus away, sir. If you can’t spell it, it’s likely you don’t really know the meaning, moron. Again, you put yourself in the middle of this story. It’s been said that it is better to remain quiet and have people think you’re an idiot than to speak and prove it. Keep talking Matt. Eventually Doug Phares will get sick of the embarrassment.

Commissioners said they haven't even seen Murman's report yet and there was no executive session announced for tonight to have Kline discuss Murman's partial report with the commissioners. This whole thing is really odd. Matt, it will be years before you can crack open Murman's report. The commission said it would be two to three years before Nuesee's situation is resolved because she can appeal. I wasn't too far off saying that this situation could go on until the November election. Murray will already be in his State position before any of this goes down of who did what.

After reading, it may seem I think you didn't spell the word correctly. I was actually pointing out you couldn't spell it with a dictionary, thesaurus and a couple editors typing it for you.

Let's start off by stating that I have the up most respect for the IMA, but are they qualified to perform an internal investigation when you have a lawyer as a city commissioner? The handwriting is on the wall as to why Murray is for the investigation from IMA, as it will keep them busy from their original agenda of recalling Murray, Stahl, and Crandall. By keeping the IMA busy also leaves Murray more of a time frame to acquire Redferns job as state representative when he steps down. We as citizens of Sandusky have seen over the last few months how the unqualified commissioners try to micro manage the city. Remember a few months ago when the commissioners wanted the citizens to pay $2.50 a month extra so the electric bill could be paid at the city building? Yet they continue to spend money like it's growing on trees.
Assistant for city manager, $60,000 plus for investigations on police chief, and mis handling funds on the housing project, tax breaks for Cedar Point, by the way are set up for NEW SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS! Law directors that are paid well, yet always seek outside legal help, and from the same legal firm, Murman and associates. Another is the Marina Distric, the citizens were never shown actual drawings of those monstrous condos before voting, but we were supposed to. Just another example of an attorney commissioner running the city on his own all for $125.00 a week! Read between the lines IMA, do what you originally intended to do. Start by the three that are in question and continue on down the line. I see that Waddington, and Fuqua finally decided to voice what they call an opinion, since they know deep down what is going on in the city government but have sit back on the fence post not wanting to pi$$ of Murray and Stahl. We have identified that Sandusky does indeed have a cancer, IMA will be the first treatment to start Sandusky on her way back to recovery and continue until the cancer is totally removed from the city so we as a community can prosper and be proud of our once beautiful city without the help of certain waterfront owners that have ethic issues but are being suppressed until their new political office is ready for them in the state!! it started out as a conversation at the fire station with yes or no answers.. it evolved into an "investigaton" which has transformed itself into a "criminal investigation." in the beginning don icsman was in the room with all the players. please note that now, he is no where to be seen nor heard. also note that the word "criminal" has been attached so that chief nuesse has no civil recoarse in this matter. d. icsman made that mistake in the mulvin "whisper campaign" a few years ago and the taxpayer got burned in district court by a large civil settlement to mr. mulvin. like hyman roth in the "godfather" icsman played this one perfect.

The elected officials don't seem to realize that one of the real responsibilities and freedoms of the press in this country are to DEMAND that those issues important to the public are disclosed in a timely manner and not covered up as seems to be the intent of some of the Commissioners who likely influenced the actions of Mr. Kline. What bothers me the most is that they think we are STUPID enogh to buy their story and Mr. Murry's quick endoresement of the IMA investigation seems like an attempt to cover his butt. I was truly in favor of Mr. Murray's run for higher office, but now I beleive that he is not the type of person I want representing me. nor do I think he even deserves the power that he currently has and seems to use without regard to those who receive injury from the bloody sword that he wields with such enthusiasm. Anyone who holds public office and thinks that THE PUBLIC HAS NO RIGHT TO KNOW, or that their knowledge of public affairs should be restrained IN ANY WAY, needs to go and should be barred from ANY public office or trust! That simple.
