E-mail to Commissioner Dennis Miller Jr.

Matt Westerhold
Mar 23, 2010

Dear Commissioner Dennis Miller:

I am sorry that we have never had the opportunity to meet, but I wanted to take a moment to urge you to very carefully read the above captioned report. I hope you take the time to do that and question if this was indeed a fair and impartial investigation of the facts, or whether it followed the dictates of an agenda.

I also wanted to mention to you that I met a man at the city commission meeting on Thursday who shared with me his thoughts about this issue and others. He also mentioned he's lived in his home in the 1500 block of Shelby Street for 67 years and said there are eight vacant houses surrounding his home. I drove to his neighborhood earlier today, and sadly, it appears the information he gave me is exactly correct.

I wonder if the more than $40,000 spent so far on the Murman investigation and related expenses would have been better spent to protect our neighborhoods and secure our city's future.

Please feel free to call me anytime. There are a great many other concerns I have regarding this issue, and it would be nice to meet and talk with you about them. Thank you for taking the time to consider my request.

Sincerely,

Matt Westhover

crackhead could probably do a blog, but '007' may not since he spends his summers on his Tiara.

Come on McCain, make the smart move and pick Sarah Palin!!!

Waddington and Grubee had lunch last week at the Lunch Box and were seen at Waddingtons Sister in laws place today (Sunday)

Way to go Obama, you had my vote but not anymore. Who else is on the ballot? I guess I will be "none of the above"

I will answer these questions with several postings.

Community forums, public meetings and organizational meetings are often poorly attended by the public. I have no illusion that all citizens will comment during the events of government. I feel this low level of citizen involvement often times holds us back from accomplishing great results.

I would like to reverse the current trend of low citizen involvement and revitalize the public’s interest, support and participation in accomplishing results.

The value of this goal has been validated many times by looking at the hard work and the accomplishments of citizens that are currently active in the county.

Who is wasting their vote? I compare the two choices like choosing to eat a dog feces sandwich or a cat feces sandwich. I decline both choices. I vote NO to both McCain or Obama. Enjoy your sandwich.

Winston Smith

Voting for Nader: I don't agree with your choice but I likewise don't agree with the naysayers that you're wasting your vote. Vote your conscious.

I've voted Libertarian since 1992 and will in no uncertain terms be casting my vote in Nov. for Bob Barr.

I'd love to see the 'minor party' candidates on the dais during the debates asking the 'tough questions' of the 'major party' candidates.

Tell us all about your loss of subscriptions in the last 2-3 years. I would love to see how many you have lost. This paper is one sided and bias. This paper stinks. Your reporters are nothing more than recently graduated, cheap kids, learning the trade so they can go work at a real paper. Truth is, they are fools if they list this paper on their resume.

should Ferrell respond to this bunch of crap. The Register should monitor his blog like they are obviously monitoring the two R blogs.

What is the time frame vision for the creation of these thousands of high paying Tech jobs? What are your views on the Nursing Home issue?

Anonymous

You say you feel the backbone of any community is water and sewer infrastructure....I don't know if that's true or not but I do know these high water and sewer bills in Huron sure are breaking the backbone of my bank account.

Anonymous

I believe an individal's ethics and morals are of the utmost importance no matter what their profession. I believe this to be especially true when one holds a public office. Do you agree?

Anonymous

I really would like to know where you stand on the nursing home issue. Thank you.

Tom

If you are not going to answer any of the questions that have been asked at least have the decency to explain why.

Anonymous

If you are not going to answer any of the questions why in the heck would you expect me to vote for you?

To Why post on Aug 24, 2008 8:55 PM:

"Most" of the questions posed to Ferrell are good questions that the tax payers have a right to know. Just because you want your boy in office while not realizing he is serving US and needs to answer those questions is no reason for him to ignore us.

Don't get the questions confused with the outright nasty, crude, and offensive comments.

Point out some "crappy" questions that he shouldn't answer and why you think he shouldn't answer them.

One more thing.

Let me ask YOU a question: If Ferrell is not going to answer any of the questions why in the heck would you expect me (or anyone else) to vote for him?

Refer to my previous post on Aug 23, 2008 8:40 AM. I think that about says it all.

Please

Geise? Are you kidding? he was the worst Dem. chair Erie County ever had. He got what he deserved. He is a clone to Redfern. He beat his wife, abused his children. 3 DUI's and stole from the party. Also violated elections laws by stealing candidates signs in a drunking stupor. Pleaseeeee !

I grew up with Chris Redfern, was 3 years behind him in high school. After all those years, I can honestly say the best job he ever did was reading the morning announcements. After that, it all went down hill.

Is a vote for NADA!

A Waste. You should write in Hillary if you are going to do that.

You can always man up and call him or come to the candidate nites forums that will be held in fall by the KofC and the Chamber instead of being chicken and posting this anonoymous baloney. Let's see who's asking the questions as well as who is answering them. Wouldn't that be a little bit fairer process than this???

Too many parents succumb and allow their children to manipulate them. Our job is to instill in our children values, teach them about respect and responsibility and guide them through the maze of societal craziness into adulthood.

To who to vote for post on Aug 25, 2008 9:31 AM:

1) Your quote: " You can always man up and call him or come to the candidate nites forums that will be held in fall by the KofC and the Chamber..."
My Answer: Yes, you are correct, I could call him but then why doesn't he just answer my questions here for EVERYONE to see? Printy and Hayberger did. As for the "Candidate Nights," those are highly improbable for me due to my work schedule. I'll say again, there was NOTHING mean, nasty, or crude in my questions that originally posted on Aug 20, 2008 2:17 PM. They are thought out and legit questions. I posed the same questions to all 4 candidates. Why won't he answer them?

2) Your quote: "...instead of being chicken and posting this anonoymous baloney."
My Answer: Just like you have just done? Who are you? Tom himself? Also, the legit questions people are asking are not baloney. And if you think so, and you are indeed Tom, then that speaks volumes about your character and how you will treat the tax payers (remember, your employers).

So if re-elected and I have a legit concern or complaint, or even a possible solution to a problem and I express that to Tom, is he going to blow me off as if it were "Baloney?"

3) Your quote: "Let's see who's asking the questions as well as who is answering them."
My Answer: What difference does it make who is asking the questions? Again 2 out of 4 candidates answered my questions. Why not Tom & Pat (gee, that kind of sounds like a morning radio show) :)

4) Your quote: "Wouldn't that be a little bit fairer process than this??? "
My Answer: Didn't each candidate agree to this "forum." If they did, I'm sure they knew what they were getting into. They should "MAN UP" and ignore the BS nasty, mean, and crude comments, and get down to answering the voters legit questions. Or are they not man enough to do it?

Anonymous

Five days and counting and Tom & Pat still haven't answered any of the legit questions on here.

There's no such thing as a wasted vote. That is a falsehood.

The only votes that could ever truly be considered wasted are the ones not cast by eligible citizens who fail to exercise their right-to-vote.

In regards to the Erie County Care Facility, a few comments may be helpful.
1. By personal observation and by comments from employees the care facility is doing a fine job in caring for the residents. The employees are doing a good job.
2. The care facility has traditionally contributed positively to the county’s general fund at about $200,000 per year.
3. Medicare and Medicaid payments have been capped and remained level for the past three years.

The county commissioners have put a care facility levy up for vote in November. This puts all of us to the task of researching the funding of the care facility and deciding for ourselves if the levy is the right solution.

The employees and the administration of the care facility are offering information in support of the levy that all voters should review.

There is a much larger issue of great significance. That is, the county’s overall expenses are exceeding the funding. Given current circumstances, the county’s cushion of money will be eliminated. We are required, by statute, to balance the budget. We simply cannot ask the voters to pay more taxes to cover the shortfall. Priority budgeting including cost reduction, consolidation and other cost control measures will have to be the answer. The work will requires insight, deliberation, and cooperation between all county departments and elected county officials.

This is the type of work I have done successfully throughout my entire business career. I am eady to use my experience to accomplish this necessary work.

I just learned that my previous post has a mistake. Medicare payments have not been capped. I am sorry for the mistake.

Tom

There are questions here that are NOT nasty or offensive. So why aren't they being answered? I think its way past time for you commissioners and a LOT of people in Erie County to be ACCOUNTABLE to the people that ELECT YOU.

"Because I said so," actually means, "You are a child, and I am not going to negotiate with you." To many parents try to negotiate with their children. I'm sorry, but a seven year old does not have the same capacity for rational thought that an adult has... no matter how immature the adult. When parents stoop to negotiating with their children, they teach them that if the complain loud enough, and waste enough people's time, they'll eventually get what they want.

The saying I heard growing up was, "This is not a democracy, it's a dictatorship." I didn't get a vote, it wasn't up to me.

Parents forget that they are not raising children, they are raising future adults. If you don't correct the behavior when they are kids, they will act that way as adults.
