The last paragraph from the Murman report executive summary recommends Kim Nuesse not be reinstated as Sandusky police chief "unless the city is prepared for the wholesale replacement of the command and support staff."

So be it.

Sheesh!

Who’s got the time to read all that bombastic egotistical drivel put out by some?

Do they believe that they are being paid by the word?

Obviously there’s some confusion for some between ‘comments’ and ‘tomes.’

Anonymous

Of this Elsebeth person whoever the hell she is. Talks too much to be anybody important and her comments are the most sophmoric I have ever seen. Can't the SR limit her to maybe one comment a day. Or maybe shut her pie hole altogether??

Anonymous

You are not alone in regards to your feelings towards Elsebeth. She is very important just ask her!!!

Anonymous

I would rather read educational tomes than a bunch of stupid comments from nitwits.

Crackhead

Sage, you impress me with your big words and your pretentious knowledge of the English language. funny thing is, you actually never say anything. you seem very critical of those that post and yet never really seem to have a view of your own. i've asked you before to discuss the issues we are talking about and share your views. go ahead, its free. ah, no matter, people that cannot opine are as easily ignored as those of us with something to say. oh, and again, why stallone's kid? just curious.

Anonymous

I told you several weeks ago, you've toned down your responses, and they are more worth reading. You're posts have matured into something I read, instead of something I blow past. Hopefully the Sandusky Register blogs can morph into good reading.

Common Sense

It is interesting that Sage Moonblood once again rises to the occasion. Las time I read your "comment", you were busy putting others down. If you don't like what you read, move on.

Redfern is just a politician and one of the worst kind. He only wants what makes him look good.

My first encounter with Redfern was when he came to a Perkins school board meeting and promised to work to fix school funding when he could. He could not then because he had no power yet in the House. So we re-elected him. Then he could not because the Democratic leadership did not make it a priority. Now he is the head of the Dem. party in Ohio. Then he could not because he needed a Democrat as governor. So now he has one. Where are the changes? All talk and no action because, if he acted, he would actually have to take a stand and could be held accountable for it.

He only wants to look good. That is why he called to complain to the Register. Why has not called about school funding, the mess with the US250 bridge in Milan, the flooding in Perkins and Bellevue, or many other problems in our area that need the attention of our elected state representative?

Anonymous

Redfern went from a modest modular home to a million plus home located in The Bluffs above the Catawba Island Club after he dumped his first wife(a local gal) for a wealthy lobbyist representing over 30 special interest groups in Columbus. The property is title under an LLC to try to keep it out of the public view. He had conveniently stayed at her place while he was in Columbus during the week. What a piece of work. What's really scary is that there has been no reporting of the Ethical implications by the Register and yet Redfern is still complaining about the reporting and article of SR.

Anonymous

Per usual, the most recent posters have helped to illustrate yet once again what to me is blindingly obvious – YOU are the entertainment.

Mr. White provides the grand opportunity by generally writing about much of nothin’ and you obligingly jump into the circus’ center ring. He’s one smart cookie and he’s obviously got most of numbers.

You’re being played people – read it and know it.

To ‘ol crackhead: Why not?

Anonymous

Chris Redfern is one of the biggest pr*cks I've ever encountered in 19 years of customer service. In fact, he is the biggest considering his stature. What a complete c*cksmoker.

sandman

Wow looks like Redfern needs to get out of office and get a job, or can't he find one around here

Anonymous

Got to hand it to the SR, one can't win against those who buy ink by the barrel. What is better yet is when the "good ole boy" gets inked and deserves it!!! Sad situation for anyone who voted for this career politician guy only to be disapponted time and again. Sounds like he also has some personal ethics issues. Now the question remains, if he communicates often with a certain city commissioner, what does his association have to say about the level politics in the city?

TT

Right, because by doing the exact same thing, you somehow become so much wiser than everyone else here. "Per usual" isn't even a proper clause; it's "as usual," "Per the usual (note article, 0);" could it be that you're not as smart as you think, or want us to think, you are? If you don't like it here, if it gets under your skin, then don't come back. It's as simple as that. You keep your eyes glued to these comment boards, just so you can harass others that post (and here's the important part) for posting. That's called a "troll," and you're a hypocrite to boot.

Anonymous

Who cares what Redfern says or thinks? He sickens me! He is the epitomy of the slimy, slick politician - he and his buddies Ferrell and Lyons. They smile nice and then stab you in the back. It's all about "them" and any power they can grab. What they don't seem to see is power doesn't mean a thing when it's gained in underhanded ways. If you're not a truly good person and if you've gotten that little bit of power by trying to seem something that you're not, when that little bit of power fades (and it will), all that's left is the shame that you brought upon yourself. And that stands forever.

Josh

Redfern vowed on at least two occasions (the candidate nights at Sandusky High School and the one in Port Clinton) prior to his reelection that he would not step down prior to the end of his term. If he does, then he will do a great disservice to his constituents by appointing Murray in his place. Actually, he already is. Whatever happened to those town hall meetings? Oh, maybe he’s too busy running the Ohio Democratic Party. How would he have time to represent Erie and Ottawa counties when he’s wining and dining with the Governor in Columbus? Let the people vote for the representatives Redfern instead of appointing them like you have been in the past.

Anonymous

Are you trying to be cute? You are a nobody.

Anonymous

RE: Re-educate yourself: So, does Redfern have a conflict of interest dating a lobbyist? That should definetly be a no, no for a public servant.

Anonymous

Re: tt: Regardless of your emotionalism, you continue to be played and you’ve sadly missed the point.

Best of luck in the future.

I’m outa here for a time. Fight amongst yourselves as I observe.

TT

No, I think we've all got the point. We just realize you're wrong, and like I said, a hypocrite. You couldn't resist posting again after my last response. You're no different than any one of us whom you mock, except for your unfortunate lack of any new thoughts. You're just a broken record. You're a sucker, Sage; you've been suckered in just as you accuse us of having been, and when called out on it, haven't the gumption to even respond. Don't worry about us seeing you out; we didn't see you in.

tinayak

Where does all the hate comes from on here and why the post from #&&^$ is allowed to stay on here...where's the abuse policy at now Matty boy?? Oh I forgot he is a Democrat so it doesn't matter what is said about him in the Voice of the Republicans aka the Sandusky Register.

Redfern is married to that gal now.

Anonymous

With Redfern, who knows what the truth is?

what?

Redfern is married to a lobbyist??? You have got to be kidding me. I guess nothing surprises me anymore coming out of Washington. When you say congress is in bed with the lobbyists, they weren't kidding!

Anonymous

I wish all the energy Sandusky is putting in bringing in casinos to this area could be directed to bringing in jobs to this area. Once the casinos are brought into the area, the employers will NEVER come as it creates a lot personnel problems for their employees.

Anonymous

Want to see some newly created poverty, go to any casino area developed in small towns like Sandusky. The number of people hitting you up for gas & food money in parking lots or at the malls is shocking. Casinos create poverty! Don't be fooled by all of the casino promises, because that kool-aide is deadly for any community.

40 Hour Worker

When it comes to commenting I believe people can agree to disagree and do so in a manner that doesn't lead to divisiveness and insulting comments. Unfortunately not everyone has the maturity to discuss, comment, and debate without resorting to ignorance and immaturity.

It's not just here, it's everywhere on every forum and community on the net. There's always one in the crowd or a handful who aren't happy unless they are stirring up drama. Beyond being disruptive to the conversation they don't seem to understand that their nonsense shows them in an ignorant, immature, and ill-informed light.

Anonymity is a huge factor in all this. It's easy to come on the net, cut someone down, and do it while hiding under the guise of anonymity. About the best you can do with people like that is not feed them what they want which is a response. The more you feed them the hungrier they get.

To those who are eager to believe false promises of good paying jobs with a gambling casino in Sandusky as part of the Marina District take note: It was reported on March 29th that the Mountaineer Casino in Chester, West Virginia lags in wages and benefits, paying the unit an average wage of just $9.34 an hour. Cashiers start at $6.50. The pay is so low that some employees can't afford necessities such as health insurance the union representative said.

So there you have it, CASINOS DO NOT PROVIDE GOOD JOBS or lving wages and benefits...unless you are a casino owner/developer and can afford to buy off the local "good old boys" who sell out their taxpayers and voters...

Anonymous

Having a casino is the easy way out for the politicians; they don't have to work as hard to bring in jobs to the community. Trust me, this isn't the answer and it will deteriorate the town even more especially if they are going to put it in at Battery Park. Condos and casions in the same place do not mix plus the area will not accommodate the traffic. The ideal place would be over at Cedar Point. They can accommodate all the traffic, parking and keep it isolated to that area. Try putting it in Murray and Stahl's backyard and see how they like it. Cedar Point is all wire up for it and ready to go. All they need is the law on their side so they can trade the rides for casino buildings.

Anonymous

$9.34 is more money than I make now. I would gladly accept $9.34. So what is your point? What wages will the Marina District pay once it is completed? What do the area water parks pay? How about Cedar Point other than the full time employees? What are the wages at some of the smaller factories in our area? So what is your point?

Anonymous

What is the point of having a casino if there are a small number of living wage jobs. Walmart employees can not affort to gamble and if they do, they will fall back into pverty and have to beg for gas and food money....that is the point. Of course no one has ever claimed that smarter people support casinos...but it is obvious that dumber people go to casinos given that the odds are all in favor of the casinos!!!

Anonymous

if hillary get the nomination, then takes strikland as VP, then I, chris "$400 haircuts in columbus twice a month" redfern, can get appointed gov like i did as state rep and county com! yipee! oh and trust me i know about 10% unemployment in my district, thats why i got a job in government to begin with, oh and my wife only pretends to be a lobbyist, she's actually inherated wealth so she plays at being a consultant to pass the time

Anonymous

Walmart employees already gamble because they buy Ohio Lottery tickets. Casinos have a better payout than the Ohio Lottery does. You have better odds in a casino than with the Ohio Lottery.

Businesses such as Cedar Point, Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Kalahari, casinos and other businesses look to the outside people with money. How could a Walmart employees afford to go to Las Vegas, Cedar Point, Kalahari and other expensive businesses? Casinos would draw in people from out of state and from areas within the state. I cannot afford to go to Las Vegas and blow over $1000 on air fare and hotels but I can afford to blow $20 in a casino once in a while. Of course, I could blow my entire paycheck on drugs or credit card debt if I want. Maybe Ohio ought to outlaw credit cards with interest rates over 10%. I heard some credit card interest rates are over 24% and the poor people get saddled with these huge rates. Poor people will blow their money on drugs, booze, the lottery, credit cards or just legal crooks like predatory lenders.

Credit card rates are currently being listed as high as 34.99% according to bankrate.com. If Redfern was a leader instead of a political stooge, we would have a usury cap at 12% as some other states do.

TT

I don't know. I should probably be on the fence here, but I think I'm going to have to go with you, "Wait..." I'm "on the fence" because I have used the "Report Abuse" option liberally since its inception. The thing is, I've used it almost everywhere I've found racism, personal attack/threats, unprintable words or phrases, or anything off topic - not just ones agaisnt me specifically. If 007, whoever they are, can ask once or twice to have a small handful of posts that unmask him/her, then I don't see why someone who has endured mountains of attacks (libel, slurs, threats, rude jokes) - like, say, Dr. E.B., must look at said mountain of evil day after day even after innumerable polite requests.

I was outed once; if you look hard on the Forums, you'll find it. I took more than my turn attacking Dr. Baumgartner, something for which I will ever be sorry and of which I will ever be ashamed. Only after I was outed by her that I decided to educate myself on who she really was and for what she really stood. The moral is: if you're going to make inflammatory posts (and sometimes I still do, I'm still learning), slander someone's name, and attack a person or a belief constantly, then you should prepare yourself for consequences beyond your control.

Anonymous

Well written, and yes this is a learning and self-restraint lesson. I do believe Dr. E.B. has much to offer and we should at least be listening. Once you go against the system, the system has a way of getting you out of it's way. Those who take a moral stand for what is right as opposed to what THEY want us to do, are the ones we should listen to. They've paid the ultimate price by being removed from their jobs, so they obviously stood up to the system.

Anonymous

If Murray is a Refern clone, then does he also support casino gambling in the Sandusky Marina District?

Anonymous

@ tt: First of all I have big shoulders and to set the record straight, I requested nothing. I am a firm believer of registering username and email address. If you remember crackhead asked why the posts directed towards me were deleted. I never actually saw them myself. Also tt, maybe the Register perceives you as the proverbial crying wolf, therefore ignoring your requests, since you state you use the report abuse liberally, just a thought. @wait: Why not pick something a little more suited as a user name other than a command, it makes conversation a little less strenuous.

Anonymous

I too have the up most respect for Dr.E.B. and can honestly say that I never bashed her verbally on the blogs or in public for that matter and feel for one that she was railroaded, and offers more knowledge than most of us can comprehend through all of her experience. I will admit sometimes I get a little caught up in the postings and sometimes maybe a little rough on opinions, but who hasn't. It's very aggravating when you have a constant level of grade school rants and finally enough is enough. I think the Register should implement

1. Constant username

2.Register email for them only

3.By implementing these standards, you alleviate people using your user name, which all of us that have one have been subjected to this. Plus all the replies with the annoying user name duh, or the first word in the paragraph. Then and only then will you see the blogs clean up and true intelligent debating will occur.

Anonymous

Cute? I'm a nobody? Why, because I work in customer service? So a golf pro is a nobody? Redfern is an idiot, the MOST unfriendly person that I've ever met. Period. He should be a grade school principal, not a politician(that's joke, in case you couldn't tell).

Anonymous

How about a new topic Matty Boy you and your fans have pretty much bashed this one to death don't you think. How about some new wisdom from that creative(?) mind of yours and Phares.

Anonymous

I have to agree that being forced to use a constant username and/or registering as a requirement to post of the blogs would be most beneficial. I also think certain stories should be blocked from comment. For example, the trash that was posted on the Calvin Harper stories was shameful. The Jensen tragedy also comes to mind. I realize what stories to 'block' would be aa subjective call, but something needs to be done. If Mr. Harper or Mrs. Jensen were a relative ofmine, I would be crushed to read some of the filth posted in the stories involving them.

Anonymous

People post comments because both reading and writing comments is entertainment. Some of the entertainment is good and some is straight garbage. Nevertheless, they're both entertainment.

The question is , will lameduck Chris Redfern endorse ringmaster Tomas Ferrell Jr.

Anonymous

Re to Lucille: Please explain Redfern endorsing Tom Ferrrell, for what may I ask? I thought it was funny that Ferrell would give up his county seat after all these years. What kind of democracy is it that all these people leave their seats only to get appointed without an election being held.

Both Tommy Ferrell and Chris Redfern have skelitons in the closet more than most politicians.

I think we have have seen the last of Redfern. He used his office and the people of this district to only take care of himself. He left a loving and loyal wife and children to marry a lobbyist, a Republican at that.Redfern has charged his living expense in Columbus to the Ohio Democratic Party. He has disloyal to a lot of people. It will catch up with him, it always does. He reminds me of Dave Geist a former Erie County Democratic Chairman who down in flames. Whatever happen to good and decent Dems.

Anonymous

Why would Redfern step down, He's been sponging off the system for years. I doubt if he's qualified to be anything but a politition.

Anonymous

Re: to Long Time Democrat : I agree with you on Redfern fading fast . I heard that the local Democratic party is split , being the real true blue Democrats using the name Country Club Democrats to the wanna be Republican -Democrats that use the party to get in office.

Isn't Redfern's wife a reporter for the Port Clinton paper? Or was that a past wife?

Redfern would make a good used car salesmen. Those used cars would be junkers that are bought at auctions, especially those cars salvaged from flood areas, dried out and sold. Imagine Chris running out after you to sell you a used car telling you to buy now because the car may not last long. Or maybe he could do those long info commercials on television at 3 in the morning trying to sell you courses on how to get rich.

Hey Redfern! What ever happen to all those state jobs you promise to the Erie County people when you were running for the State Chairman? You lied again. Chris Redfern is a cute little boy who was hand picked by Strickland. Strickland runs the Ohio Democratic Party not Redfern. We will never get any thing done up here until you people lay off everybody and quit posting this false info. And the Democratic Party is doing quite well in Erie County these days under the great leadership of the new Chariman. Count up the county offices and see what I mean.

No doubt our useless Representative made that last post himself. He is probably quite shocked at the vitriol directed towards him in this blog. And here he thought he was fooling everybody.

I can remember every office in Erie County was held by a Democrat. Good decent people who care about the average person. Not just the Country Clubers.

Anonymous

From my readings about Redfern, I see where he used campaign funds to pay future wife Kim $4,700 for the cost of living with her early last year. Redfern used another $12,800 in campaign funds to pay rent and utilities for an apartment in the Columbus Brewery District throughout 2006. The rent was $975 a month, and he wrote himself a $2,739 check to cover utility costs from a previous year. He also got more than $4,000 in travel reimbursement from the House in 2006. Maybe Redfern was allowed by law to convert campaign funds to his own use but was this MORALLY RIGHT? Will be beg for more campaign money when he runs for another political office? Why didn't Redfern save this money for a future political campaign or why didn't he turn it over to the Democratic Party which has campaign debts? Just because somebody can do things doesn't make it morally right. And from my readings, Redfern does admit that he is married to a lobbyist who is also a Republican. How wonderful to the special interest groups that a lobbyist is married to and in bed with Redfern. And Port Clinton continues to sink and the potholes just keep getting bigger and more numerous. So where is Redfern to help out our area? Maybe he is too busy rubbing elbows with the rich and powerful elite and ignores the peons that elected him.

Did Redfern report all of this money on his tax returns since he converted the money to his own use? Also I would like to hear more about his home in Columbus and this million dollar house that he and his present wife own on Catawba.

Anonymous

I'll bet the IRS would love to hear about all of this. Nothing pleases my heart more to see a jail cell door slam shut on a thieving politician that's in it for personal gain and no one else!

Redfern was a little putz back in High School, then milked a "gravy job" after college as the "director" of Ottawa County Litter Prevention that lasted until he schmoozed his way into Darryl Opfers seat.

Amazing story and links that are clearly supportede by facts about the questionable use of campaign funds to support living "in" expenses paid by Refernd to his to his soon to be bride as reported by a major newspaper. How does such news go unreported by the local papers? Are the local papers too timid to shine a light on some very questionalble practices? Got to wonder how many lobbyists donated to the Refern's campaign?

Just Asking

For those of us who aren't in the inner ring of politics, why does Tom Ferrell need an endorsement? What is he running for? Something must be going on for him to give up his county seat that he is so intrenched in.

@ Sandsuky OG,

I agree with you that blogging is here to stay. However, two people went to jail (Bryan Dubois and me) for running a website out of Sandusky Ohio.

I'm still looking at 8 years for use of the internet to criticize the judicial process. My statements were far less offensive then what is said on these blogs. (See for example comments directed at Judge Fox in the Bellevue stories)

So there is a backlash if you irritate the wrong people (prosecutors, judges, police, lawyers)and that includes the local media who refuse to report on certain cases so the censorship of certain viewpoints contary to the status quo continues.

I have an idea for your next blog since you have not posted in some time. What are my duties at the SR? With such a long time between blogging, I am wondering if you needed a "vacation" to come up with an idea on what to blog on next.

This one is a freebie, but the next one will cost you. LOL

Looking forward to your next topic, whether it be mine or one of your own.

Helloooooo Matt!

I read in the newspaper last week that your blogs would be a regular feature. What does the term "regular" mean? If you are inhiding for taking it on the chin from Redfern, it's time to gear up again. If you are afraid of the Sandusky force, let your readers take them on.

Hope to hear from you soon.

peanut59

Does the Register ever wonder if this blog will prevent people from cooperating for a story? If my kids were involved in something newsworthy and the Register wanted to do a story on it, I'd have to say no, because it doesn't seem to matter what the story is - some bloggers will write nasty comments and I wouldn't want my kids subjected to that. Even if they didn't read it, they could hear about it from someone. I've seen nasty comments about the most innocent stories . . .

Anonymous

Hey Matt, Why were my comments about Redfern taken down? All that I did was summarize what I read in other newspapers like the Toledo Blade, Columbus Dispatch and other news sources. Did Redfern call you again to complain about my comments? Hopefully Redfern reported all of those campaign funds on his income taxes. Hey Matt, why do they call Redfern "The Fern"? Ferns grow in "shady" places. Gee Matt, I was going to forgive you for posting that CCW list if you would report the TRUTH in our area. Maybe I was a bit premature in giving you "kudos" which I am now taking back. You can talk the talk but can you walk the walk? Don't worry about Redfern, he is just a typical panty-waisted politician. He will never compare to Marcy Kaptur who is a TRUE representative of our area.

Anonymous

Hey Nicholas White,

Please read the Discussion Guidelines again and again. I still cannot understand why you took down my comments. This isn't Nazi Germany or the USSR. Or is "Freedom Of The Press" dead in America? I have come to the conclusion that politicians will dictate what the newspapers will print. Sad.

Anonymous

I never thought about that comment before. I've been reading mean and nasty comments posted and I've read some very nice ones. Unfortunately, its the mean ones that prevail. I, like you, would not allow a story to be written about my child due to the fact that there truly are mean people out there. There unfortunately are people that feel the need to trash a young adult in this area and bring them down. So, maybe these blogs are a bad idea.

Anonymous

I don't know what you wrote, but you are free to start your own blog - then you can say whatever you want without fear of having it removed. This blog belongs to the Register, and if they remove something, they aren't trampling on your free speech. You can shout your comments from the street corner if you want.

Anonymous

Your self-righteous first amendment crap simply does not apply here! The Register is NOT obligated to provide a space for people to spew hate. If you take down this blog, you are not trampling on free speech. People are free to start their own blogs. Ahhh - but by maintaining a blog, you get to stir it up and use it to sell papers. Give me a break. You didn't start this blog because of the First Amendment!

Redfern is a little sissy. When you claim to be be a big shot, as Redfern does, you have to expect that your family and you are fair game. If it's too hot in the kitchen, the sissy should get out. If he would do that, we'd all be better off!

Anonymous

It would be a shame to see thought police type controls on blogs when there are only two basic abuse categories that are needed: 1) report abuse for obscenity and 2)report abuse for off topic comments that would include comments that hijack the blog when a blog begins to address a person's alleged adultery, spousal problems, or any perceived personal issues, persoanl orientations, or personal preferences.

Raising legitimate questions or statments of opinion should not be censored.

Purposeful misrepresentation of actual facts should be monitorerd, but not necessarily censored as most mis-statements could be easily challenged with another view of "the facts" by anyone who wished to access the blog so readers will best informed to develop their own opinions.

In the case of perceived or questionable allocation of campaign funds to cover housing expenses provded through a "live-in" arrangemebt with a lobbyist, if the facts are well established and also reported & documented by news sources, then let the truth and the breaking story ring out as was the case recently.

The SR, if not the bloggers, should tell the complainer to work on returning measureable results for his district to improve his political track record. OR, simply tell the whiner to get out of politics, stop trying to control the press, stop managing an image, and stop wasting everyone's time.

While "the fern" may not like the blogs, he now knows that all is not well if his voters can not wait for him to run out the clock as he takes care of himself first. A lack of productive leadership over the years proves how another wasted opportunity slips through the voters' hands whenever voters pull the lever for career polictians. More voters may be growing less trusting of "good ole boy" type politicans and their country club fiends.

Anonymous

free speech?? We don't have no need for no stinkin free speech. One minute for you!

Anonymous

Politicians have a lot of nerve stepping on free speech rights, but they will show up at your doorstep wanting your vote next time they run. They forget all about you until they need your vote once again.

To the poster at 3:52 PM. My comments were directed to Nicholas White unless YOU are Nicholas White. My comments had to do with "Freedom Of The Press" when little Chris Redfern complained about what Matt wrote in the blogs. I am not afraid if the SR takes down my posts. The SR has deleted many of my posts in the past. But what I was concerned about was Nicholas White's previous blogs, especially "The lessons of Deep Throat" where people put up factual information and angry politicians call in to have the comments deleted. All of the information is all over the internet on other newspaper sites. I guess it is all right if politicians use the newspapers to slander or spread misinformation about private citizens or even political rivals. I don't like when politicians dictate to newspapers what should or should not be written. Seems like Redfern and other politicians only want newspapers to write good things about them and not negative things.

Maybe you need to get a pair of reading glasses or you need better reading comprehension. I did NOT mention "free speech" which is an entirely different topic. And even starting up a website or blog to criticize government officials can get one sent to prison so "free speech" no longer exists. I have no idea why I have to reply to a bonehead such as yourself. I guess that I just had to lower myself to your standards.

Anonymous

When, Mr. Westerhold, is it free speech and when is it decency? Depends on who's side you are on , right?

TT

Nick, when's THIS vacation over?

TT

Comments gone again?

wow Know I'm being called a racist..now is that when you have no idea of my race nor did I say anything racist..I simply suggested you stroll the street of sandusky..And yes sorry I did get off topic..I apolagize for that..but please don't presume anything of anyone KING OF SANDUSKY

Anonymous

Do you have one example where someone was sent to prison for "starting up a website or blog to criticize government officials"? If so, I'll shut up. My point is everyone (including the Register) seems to think the Register has some obligation to maintain this blog. Its their blog. They can delete what they want or take it down all together without compromising "Freedom of the Press". Anyone can start a blog and that same person can take it down or decide what gets deleted.

Anonymous

Freedom of the Press mean the press can't be stifled by the government. It also means you're free to start a paper, and you can print what you want. Now if a government official talks to someone at the paper and they tone down or delete an article, the paper is free to do that. I'm not condoning that, I'm just saying it doesn't violate "Freedom Of The Press". Papers can print/delete what they want - that's Freedom Of The Press! Redfern's complaining to the Register in no way violates this freedom. In fact, Redfern is exercising his own freedom when he does that.

Anonymous

I commend you Matt for telling us all about the result of your Redfern blog. You didn't cover up what the outcome was of those comments. What I do not understand are the people that want to complain about a paper... saying it stinks or is one sided etc, but continue to read it. So who's the idiots here? If you hate the Register, don't read it! There are other papers out there that will give you the same stories as this one does... right? There I excersized MY right to free speech.

Does Chris Redfern want some Cheese with that Whine. Chris you cry us a stream-river wheezer when we vote in 2 Republican Erie County Commissioners this Election Year. The democratic party leads should have told you ,if you can talk the talk and can't walk the walk-DON'T WHINE & CRY. So if you can't Run with the BIG DOGS stay on the PORCH.Chris you are just like your democratic Buddy Tom Ferrell Jr. a real whiner.

Anonymous

Can't stand the heat then get out of the kitchen. Maybe if you actually did your job people wouldn't be so upset with you.

Anonymous

If Chris gets bad press then his campaign contributions will go down and he won't be able to live in his mansion. Boo hoo "Mr." Redfern. I have sooo much pity towards you.

tk

I once wrote a letter to the editor critical of comments made by Redfern. Redfern called me saying he had not made the comments as quoted in the SR. He also called the editor to complain, the editor then called me to ask where I had gotten my information. I told him I got it from the SR and ask him if you could not believe what the SR printed. It was a regular three ring circus all because "Little Crissy" couldn't handled being criticized.

Anonymous

Mr.Redfern : Presidential election year and you being the Chairman of the Ohio Democratic Party, must be a hard job knowing Hillary & Rover Bill can't catch - keep up with Barack Obama. We hear alot of talk about a split vote in the Democratic Party this Presidential election year.Chris you know John McCain is a real War Hero ( POW ). John McCain should visit the Ohio Veterans Home around the 4 of July-Independence Day so we can meet a past veteran-serviceman who served our Great Nation-Country

Anonymous

it's not free speech when you but stuff up here that is not true. Those are lies and the Register is a liar if they print them. Make the people do the same thing they have to do when they write a letter to the editor of this sorry rag. You wouldn't print a letter to the Editor that came from "crackhead" with no phone number and no real name would you Matty boy????

In my opinion:

9. Perdusky

8. Anne X. Ation

7.

6.

5. Elsebeth - speaks her mind and uses her real name

4. Anne X. Ation - tunnel vision on schooling issues

3. Vladimir Pootin - Immature, but actually funny

2. tt - Knowledgedly covers a broad range of topics

1. Crackhead - I look forward to Crackhead weighing in on issues

Honorable mention goes to the Gyro Cart guys, who are funny but don't qualify for this list because they use different "handles" but the message is consistent, and hilarious.

Mr Redfern fairness isn't right-to-work and anti-labor .Chris you should read the Sandusky Register and see what's going on in your 80th Ohio State District with Union Labor . The Unions do have concerns that need addressed with the Democratic Party this election year.No. 1 being the outsourcing of jobs like the ECSO-FOP-JOBS at the Erie County Courthouse.Mr. Redfern 3 Erie County Commissioners on the board and 2 of them are Democrat.Democrat and president of the board Tom Ferrell is up for re-election this election year.

Anonymous

Looks like the democrates are imploding at all levels, national, state and local politics is always about the economy and jobs..not much to brag about here over the last two Redfern terms...

if a person receives a paycheck from the tapayer, is elected, or goverened by people who are elected, then one should accept criticism. many people draw from the public well. your dollars support their lifestyle. taxpayers have the right and the resposibilty to speak out. apathy has created the situation that sandusky faces. you question the actions of your law director. d. icsman,

salary: $106,000 yr. + benefits. (highest paid public servent in sandusky) yet the elected comm. never question his actions. why? this vehicle allows you that opportunity.

Anonymous

What about '007'? His non-sensical rants are sure to liven up any discussion board!

Otherwise, I like your rankings. You should set up a SR blog "smack off" (Props to the Rome show).

Anonymous

FYI:The only time the Unions see or hear from Chris Redfern is at election time, being he wants the Unions to endorse a Democrat or Democrats.Chris some of the Good Ole Boys Club Democrats are Anti-Union Labor and don't agree with collective bargaining agreements.Chris you should know what's going on behind the scenes ( Propaganda Intimidation Attemps- Tactics To Scare Union Members ).

Thanks for allowing a space for us to speak our mind. Really don't know what my problem was either, but if you did remove them, had to be for a reason. You should be able to remove remarks that are vulger, race oriented, sexist, or just plain out of line. I'm sure I've posted some things that I should not have, but I get caught up in this crap, too. I know of several where I mentioned names of SMWI Local 33 officers and they were deleted. Those guys know who I am, and they know how I feel about their sorry union, and their suit against the city. I read these news articles and comments a lot. Again, Thanks.

There is no way the Democrats should lose any election in Ohio this year. The country is in terrible shape. However, with cry baby Redfern running the show, McCAin will probaly carry Ohio. We've never had a Democratic state chairman hated by card carrying DEMS as cry baby Redfern is. If the DEMS win in Ohio, it will be in despite of the glory hog, Chrissy. Prissy Redfern.

Anonymous

In other words Redfern called you guys like the cry baby he can be at times. At least not maybe more people will notice how he acts.

Anonymous

So Mr. White, do you think that you’ve seen enough of the amateur song-and-dance and are ready to hook ‘em in?

Anonymous

what I've decided....you people that posted all this stuff about Redfern this week are all just jealous of him....jealous of his success....jealous of his intelligence......jealous of his wifey (who is a babe and also very nice).....

jealous of his youthful appearance and of his good looks.

So stick it in your ear and go back to your computer games or your caves or where ever you came from or reside. That includes you too Matty boy. He's where you all wish and dream you were.

How about this for an idea, let have 2 bloggers that use the same name all the time go on WLEC and have callers ask them questions on the air live. I don't know about you but reading what these people write I always wondered what they sounded like. Besides WLEC could use something new and exciting, plus let the bloggers on here pick and vote for who they want to speak to. Sounds like a great way to have some fun and get the city back in check at the same time and i'm sure WLEC will get plenty of sponcers, once it starts rolling. Also i'm sure it would produce the most hits on the blog pages. Hey Nick, this might be just what you need to impress Matt AND HIS BOSS AS THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK!!

youre a f___ing idiot!

Chris Redfern should review the comments made on the recent stories about Sharrod Brown. There were few negative comments on him. Maybe Redfern should look in the mirror and see why he is getting negative comments. If this forum is putting pressure on him to be a better representative of the people, all the better. The SR is just making it a bit more difficult for elected officials to be bad characters. And, I say to the SR, keep up the good work!

Elsebeth

After battling incontinence while reading comments under Spirit Searchers...IMO..it's not even close. tt is #1.

I just want to say HI and Thanks to Karl Hungus, Elsebeth Baumgartner, Ralph.....

For always being so nice to me on these Comment Boards and Forums. I do sincerely apprecaite it very much. I know that I don't have as broad of a vocabulary as you guys do, but I am learning.

Thanks for stickin by me and with me.

Sincerely,

It is the voters who need to change and stop electing career politicians. When someone has not held a real job for most of their working lifetime, there is a greater chance that such a career politician will not best relate to what is taking place in the "real" world. That may also explain the "special treatment" expected by career politicians such a Redfern when he leaned on the SR not once, but twice over the same blog. Voters need to wise up and elect people who can better represent their interests. Blogging is here to stay and thanks to the SR and Matt Westerhold voters now have a voice!

THE DOWNFALL OF THE OHIO DEMOCRATIC PARTY IS CHRIS REDFERN. HE'LL TAKE TOMMY "DO NOTHING" FERRELL DOWN WITH HIM, AND PROBABLY BARACK OBAMA IN OHIO AS WELL. THE TABLE IS SET FOR THE DEMOCRATS TO WIN THIS YEAR. HOWEVER WITH THE PUBLIC'S HATRED OF "CRY BABY" REDFERN, I'M AFRAID THE DEMS HAVE AGAIN SHOT THEMSELVES IN THE FOOT.

STRICKLAND HASN'T FIGURED OUT YET HOW BADLY REDFERN IS SEEN BY OTHERS.

Hey Chris how is your picnic table doing?

TT

Appreciate the tip of the hat there, Dr. As I come to know you, at least through real study of your situation, I'm glad I was able to have my mind changed about you. You're one brave lady. Apparently my religiosity is under question by people that have never heard the foundations of their homes settle at night (hence the "bumps"). I'm as Cathy-lick as ever, and I know that any ghost besides that which is Holy doesn't exist. The best part is that even that God tells me that this is so, I know if from pure sense anyway - God hates fools, and really doesn't like people trying to disturb the souls of the dead. If you believe in God, you wouldn't believe in regular ghosts anyway!

Anonymous

to report abuse. The post on here at 2:10 by Erie County Watch Dog is bull crap. Take it off Matty boy. Or since it is against a Democrat it's ok?? Or do you have to check with Phares before you do something???

Anonymous

Imagine if all Bill Clinton or John Kerry had to do to get people (or the mainstream media) from making comments about their spouses was to call the editor and cry. Most people would call fair comments about elected officials' spouses fair game - especially when those spouses represent an industry that is paid to interfere in the relationship between elected officials and the constituents they represent.

If comments are vulgar and pointless, that's one thing. But if people are questioning how the head of the Democratic party and and an elected official balances being married to a lobbyist, I think that's a fair and decent question.

And one that deserves discussion.

Anonymous

tt: ‘If you believe in God, you wouldn't believe in regular ghosts anyway!’

It’s pure superstition no matter how you care to slice and dice it.

discuss it jerkwad but show a little respect for an elected official. I 'll say it again you guys are just jealous of Redfern jealous that he is succesful and jealous that he has things like you morons don't... brains and a life. The remark about him and the picnic table is ridiculous. It should be deleted. This blog should be run like JJ Huddle is. The Huddle is constantly monitored by administrators and if you break the rules that are set up you are off.....forever!!!!
