Stahl: Best Good Old Boy

Matt Westerhold
Mar 23, 2010

City commissioner Craig Stahl was almost breathless when he read a letter to commission Monday from Erie County Prosecutor Kevin Baxter refuting the importance of another letter Baxter sent last week to Don Icsman and Matt Kline that stated the Murman report contained factual inaccuracies.

The way Stahl embraced Baxter's denial of his earlier admission that Murman got the "details" wrong was so sweet. Kevin must have taken all weekend to figure out how to word that second letter. Baxter had just finished writing it a half-hour before the commission meeting, Craig said. And Craig was just so excited to be the chosen messenger. He read it as if it were a letter from the Pope.

"Congratulations on being Kevin's water boy," I told Stahl after the public meeting ended.

"Maybe I am being his water boy," Stahl responded after some additional chiding.

Yeah Craig, that's exactly what you were when you delivered Baxter's second "cover your (behind)" CYA letter in less that a week.

It's just too bad you didn't have any time to address the Darden report, which was actually researched and thoughtful. While you encourage and celebrate Baxter's attempts to manipulate the process for Party and power, Darden actually did the work you should be doing: Digging for the truth.

But you were too busy trying to be the best Good Old Boy you could be to actually pay attention to "details."

Looks like Warner is a good old boy.

Definitely

The last time a vote went down there were only 4 running for 4 open seats, remember. Well actually, Warner was going to run but didn't want to take any votes away from the 4 running so they would all get in. I guess you could say they owed him.

Matt Westerhold being the expert journalist that he THINKS he is....should run for City Commissioner. Matt seems to have all the answers and is oh so wise about the ways of the world. In my REAL opinion, I wouldnt let Matt Westerhold shine my shoes. I wouldnt let him walk my dog....

I sometimes wonder how many complaints the SR recieves everyday about Westerhold. I mean in this line of work, are complaints good? Does it mean that the journalist receiving the complaint is bringing attention to the paper, thus making their sales go up? What if people began contacting the advertisers and threaten to not give them any business. Maybe my complaints and those of us who have written formal complaints about Matt make him look actually good to the "Powers That Be" at the SR. I mean if the man has no morals, which he definatly does not appear to have, then where is his incentive to stop spewing hatred. I was always under the impression that a newspaper was there to report THE FACTS and be unbias, was the person who taught me that wrong? This blog is not a "Name Callin'" blog or meant to blast anyone but the person in question MW, I would really like to know of those of you who have threatened to complain about him, did you actually do it and what kind of response, if any did you get???

Since we have such a lack of leadership on the city commission let's move toward two year terms so we are not stuck with a bunch of losers for four years and that way more citizens may have an opportunity to replace ineffective commissioners...

Anonymous

Let's reduce the number of commisioners to three (Same as County). Pay them comparable pay and benefits. I guarantee you won't get four commissioners running for four seats then.

Did you see how fast Baxter jumps back over the fence when he found out that the vote wouldn't go down to reinstate Nuesse. Baxter can't make up his mind which side of the fence he wants to be on.

Not only can Westerhold not write very good, but he can't read or at least read what is written in black and white. If he could read and comprehend, there is no way he should have headlines blaring the "Baxter Blasts Details in Murman Report." If that letter is an example of "blasting" I would like to know what dictionary or other reference source Dip Stick Westerhold was using. And speaking of water boys, it certainly appears that Dip Stick Westerhold is carrying a lot of water for Nuesse or maybe something else is going on behind the scenes??? Get a life Dip Stick and if you were smart you would get out of journalism because you don't even rate a one or a two with regard to creditability and unbiased reporting.

Warner did run for commission a few years back. That was when there were 11 running for four seats. He lost BIG TIME! He almost had the least votes of all of them. Now by going to meetings, getting himself recognized and s*cking up to the current good old boys, they picked him. The public should have been able to vote. Crooked politics as usual.

Well Mr. Westerhold, I was holding my 'breath' in anticipation of your next editorial(or maybe that was because of your last one, whatever), and now here it is! Speaking of "Good Old Boys" and "Water boys", you are really out doing yourself. The struggle for the hogs to get to the trough of information must be exhausting. You certainly are attempting to get yourself 'in position' to be right in the 'swim' with Kimmie if she gets back into office. Just think, Kimmie, Timmie, and you. Your imagination must be running wild right about now.......

Matt would you please give us your opinion on something important! To be honest I wish you would stop giving your opinion.

The S.R. is very equal with the National Enquirer, it's drama. Don't you realize how much people make fun of you?

People...if we all stop blogging to Matt's blogs maybe he will get a clue, this is my last blog to you Matt, please people follow me by not responding to his nonsense. Im out of here!!!

Get a life Matt!

When is someone going to step up and ask the AG's Office to come in and INVESTIGATE, not just this whole FIASCO w/Nuesse, but how our City leaders choose to do business, with whom and why? The more this goes on, the more MANY of us believe THERE IS MUCH TO HIDE ON BOTH SIDES! I'me beginning to believe this whole IMA investigation is a stall tactic on the Citys' part. Must be how the Dems do business? If you really wanted to prove the money spent on the Murman Report was kosher, let alone the report being kosher, someone would be contacting the AG's Office! Ever hear the saying about "the straw that broke the camels back"? With what's gone on in this city over the last 5-6yrs., from 222 Meigs St. down to W. Washington Row, it's been PROVEN an awful lot isn't done on the UP-N-UP! And you wonder why people have DOUBTS?

Bobby Warner and his shoddy politicking in the political arena.Bobby's being appointed/the chosen one as (Sandudusky city commissioner) is because of his ties/dealings with the Democratic party. The word on the street is that Boddy doesn't get along very well with the other AFL-CIO - UAW - AFSCME Unions.Bobby's Union endorsements are a good examples. Bobby doesn't endorses Democratic Erie County Commissioner Tom Ferrell Jr. with the AFL-CIO North Coast Central Labor Council but then turns around and endorsing Tom Ferrell Jr. through AFL-CIO InternationalUnuon Painters and Alliied Trades District Council 6 in Sandusky.Bobby is a camers/media hungry loser. He will do anything to get his name in the paper. Just wait he will hang himself and the city. Bobby does have a personal- agenda being he doesn't do anything unless there is something in it for himself.

Time for a new blog posting, Matt.

You fell for yet another McClung bumb lead. When will you wake up and see who you are trying to call the GOB network? Are you really that stupid?

Anonymous

Why so quiet Matty boy? Nothing to say after you wouldn't quit talking for 6 months??? Phares finally put the muzzle on the rabid dog or what?? Or are you running away to get married to Kimmie???

Quit hiding Matty Boy and let us know what's going on in that feeble mind of yours.

Westerhold it is too bad you were too breathless to publish the whole truth of what Baxter said. But that has been going on ever since this started. You publish the bull and forget the truth so people do not really know what is going on. This town would be a lot better off without you.

the time has come that MAYBE you should think more of the community than yourself and the people you like; unless you haven't read the paper the Chief is fired yet you four blogs all related to the chief; give it a rest and let's try some positive feedback that might help the community rather than continue to tear it apart

I don't think Matt Westerhold and the SR are biased at all. I believe they feel the same OUTRAGE as everybody else does in seeing yet ANOTHER grave injustice pulled off by these dirty GOB's who think their above the Law.

puzzled

Lets see, may 18th to july 18th. thats 60 days to get things in order

perkins

McClung thinks you people are stupid.

Anonymous

How can you get something in order that supposedly isn't there to be put in order????

Anonymous

Yep, 60 days to get things in order and 60 days to get your story straight.

Anonymous

I don't recall ever hearing anything about the ATF coming to visit(???) Perkins in the newspaper, or anywhere else, until after the raid. Then Mr. McClung said that HE invited them. I guess this is something else that is none of the TAXPAYERS business. I wonder when the Register found out about it? Possibly, after the Morning Journal did yesterday?

Anonymous

the issue of "public impression" from the residents of the township, was based on the AMOUNT and TYPE of weapons, along with the cost of those weapons and the large amount of ammunition used to fire those weapons? I would certainly hope that McClung could produce those weapons in 60 days. That's like saying "Hey, we got a warrant for you, and we will be at your house at 6:00 on Tuesday to take you to jail". Kinda sounds foolish to me.

Anonymous

As a "public service," the Sandusky Register should publish a list of every weapon in inventory; make/model/caliber/serial number. Use the Freedom of Information Act to get it. NO SECRETS!
