Stahl: Best Good Old Boy

City commissioner Craig Stahl was almost breathless when he read a letter to commission Monday from Erie County Prosecutor Kevin Baxter refuting the importance of another letter Baxter sent last week to Don Icsman and Matt Kline that stated the Murman report contained factual inaccuracies.

The way Stahl embraced Baxter's denial of his earlier admission that Murman got the "details" wrong was so sweet. Kevin must have taken all weekend to figure out how to word that second letter. Baxter had just finished writing it a half-hour before the commission meeting, Craig said. And Craig was just so excited to be the chosen messenger. He read it as if it were a letter from the Pope.

"Congratulations on being Kevin's water boy," I told Stahl after the public meeting ended.

"Maybe I am being his water boy," Stahl responded after some additional chiding.

Yeah Craig, that's exactly what you were when you delivered Baxter's second "cover your (behind)" CYA letter in less that a week.

It's just too bad you didn't have any time to address the Darden report, which was actually researched and thoughtful. While you encourage and celebrate Baxter's attempts to manipulate the process for Party and power, Darden actually did the work you should be doing: Digging for the truth.

But you were too busy trying to be the best Good Old Boy you could be to actually pay attention to "details."

Come on! Give this coach a break, Every father out there knows that they want to see their son playing in a game, so for you fathers out there, Mr. Brausch is just doing what you would do given the chance, and don't deny that you wouldn't..........after all he is not at a ball touching position, its a tight end sealing the corner, so far he hasn't been knocked to the ground.

Way to go little Brausch, Keep up the work, we'll need all of your buds next year!!

Anonymous

Oh, I believe I can safely say that there definitely is some "ball touching" going on at Perkins. His decision making is proof of that.

Not EVERY father would react the way Brausch is acting. Not EVERY father who is a coach is blind to the fact that their son or daughter has little talent. Even Piper or Painter's son's never played varsity as freshman. Freshman have thier place and need to work with their own classmates building a team relationship. I can't see anything positive coming from playing his son becuase he wants him to letter as a freshman. Is he a standout player on the football field? This is just going to drive a wedge in between the kid and his friends and the other parents and the head coach. There are other players who deserve to be out there on that field before this freshman.

I don't believe that ALL fathers would be so willing to set their own child up for such riducule! It isn't lil Brauschs' fault, and there is NO ANIMOSITY towards that young man! We're not to question, right? Tell ya what, when coaches are yelling, screaming, cursing, threatening and demanding that our kids play TO WIN, than ALL Coaches damn well better be coaching to win! I can see Fresh. dressing on Fri. nights to get a feel for the game, but when you start inexperienced players over experienced, please explain the rationalization! It doesnt' matter if they're in a ball-touching position or not! Seems to me, more focus is being paid on Football 09-10 than that of 07!

So now we are going to probe our children with talent meters to see if they can qualify to play, Give everyone a break!

...will be the highlight of some of these kids' lives, which, frankly, is kind of sad. So the coaches should be as objective as possible so that the right kids get p.t. That being stated, parents need to be realistic. Many kids who think they are the next Emmitt Smith are in reality marginal at best. And marginal in the SBC means they would be riding the pine in a real h.s. football league.

What about all the cussing after practice directed at the kids mr braush? Didn't they fire rock supposedley for that reason ?Then to cuss a parent out ?Oh by the way nice 2 pt try at the end .. 95% of the coaches would have sent the game in to 2 overtimes.

My thoughts

The try for two was the correct thing to do. You play for the tie at home and go for the win on the road.

TT

On one of Edison's punts, I heard he had Tyler Dix in to return at a good point. Why, then, did the coaches instruct him from the sidelines not to touch it? It rolled down to the two; is Brausch TRYING to lose?

Anonymous

Go for two what a joke, some one said it was a te pass to his kid . If that true he should NEVER coach at that school again!

Anonymous

Ha s he ever met on a Sunday ? Has he ever broke down films with his staff to coach the kids ?THAT SHOULD ANSWER YOUR QUESTION!

SAD SITUATION OVER AT PERKINS GLAD IT'S SOUTH OF SANDUSKY .

TT

Right, because everything is going swimmingly in the City, I see.

I see a lot of immature, rude and just plain hateful words being written in these blogs. Stop badmouthing each other, as well as each others children and act like mature, responsible loving parents.

Anonymous

An even 100 comments on the sad saga called perkins.

TT

Again, we're still better off than Sandusky. No matter how bleak it looks here, Perkins residents always know to look north, and then our problems don't seem so great. At least we own our homes.

Anonymous

At least we HAVE a head coach that doesn't cuss out players and parents .He works hard in the summer and off season too.

Anonymous

it's easy folks, take after the buckeyes and schedule nothing but crappy teams all season, while the rest of the ranked teams play powerhorses week in, week out. In the end, you'll look great, while only needing to win one or two games a year (with a least one of those at home) for your title.

Anonymous

Maybe you guys could get Jay Crawford to come back and coach the team?

TT

I agree Notestine is tops, and that Brausch makes Farlow look like Dick Vermeuil, but one man doesn't equate with housing, does he? I wrote my comment in response to those who made it clear that they enjoyed Perkins' problems at large, reminding them that Sandusky's are far greater. Does the name Rectenwald ring a bell?

TT

That's "Vermeil."

Anonymous

u dont live in sandusky and i would appreciate it if you would just shut up and move on with your life i mean come on you are arguing on a football page for god's sake get a life

Anonymous

and perkins is not as great as Sanusky because they are a township not a city and they are jealous BURN!

TT

Jealous of what? Poverty? Crime? Schools? Good call.

Anonymous

Wow,
You people are still at it. Stop insulting each other. Grow up! Act your age.

If it bothers you, don't read it!

I cant wait UNTIL the schools merge because your sorry people cant support a school district . Then you will become one of us .

TT

So far, we're doing a better job than Sanduskians at supporting a school district. Ratings don't lie, and any Sandusky school teacher will tell you they'd like to have all the resources that Perkins teachers have. One of the reasons we can support a school district is that we own homes, we don't rent them. Have a pleasant day!

Anonymous

Wait until the STATE forces you to merge after you keep voting the levy down.I will be the first to welcome you to sandusky ,tt.

Common Sense

As for voting school levies down, how is it that Sandusky can dump their schools for a bargain price to low bids, yet they still need more money to run the schools.Your metro voters will pass your levy because they are in the majority and it won't bother them a bit. Hmmmm......
