For Baxter, truth is inconvenient

Matt Westerhold

Good Old Kevin Baxter can sure spin things away from truth whenever he wants, and a recent letter to the editor is a perfect example. Old Kevin made serious objection to a recent Register editorial critical of his office for issuing a flawed warrant that delayed the arrest of a child rapist.

The man was arrested "just 37 days" after an indictment was returned by a grand jury, Baxter says. I don't know about you, but even 37 days is too long for a child rapist to be free and on the loose. The man was accused in August 2006 and arrested by U.S. Marshals in late December that same year, so the actual delays were much longer than Baxter's spin. And local officials never lifted a finger to make an arrest after the flawed warrant was finally issued.

Baxter ignored repeated requests for documentation on the case and, when questioned directly about it on two seperate occasions, he stared back with a glassy-eyed look and feigned ignorance on the entire topic. How convenient. Play dumb when it serves you, Kevin, and then be filled with righteous indignation when you get called on your shortcomings.

Baxter also ignored written requests for the information, and for information on other flawed warrants that might have resulted in at least one other child rapist getting a free pass in Erie County. There are plenty of examples, but Baxter's abnormal need for secrecy keeps most under the radar.

And Baxter is quick to dump on his best buds whenever he gets put on the hot seat, including pointing the finger at the sheriff or deputies, or old best old bud county commissioner Tom Ferrell Jr. Kevin also will blame city officials for their shortcomings if that helps Kevin's cause. Kevin covers Kevin's butt -- and every other good old boy's behind -- as long as it serves Kevin.

It's time to cut the crap. You cannot fix a problem if you deny it exists, and when the sheriff's office has more than 800 outstanding warrants -- with serious felony crimes getting lost in bureaucracy -- there must be something wrong with the system.

If anyone is misrepresenting the facts, Kevin, it's you.

Is that you, BUFF? Or is it Kevin?
WHY not call in the AG to investigate? Afraid that the crooks might be exposed?

All that is wrong will eventually be discovered. Problems will not go away because you will them to do so. Too many people are involved in this turmoil, and I believe that you will do what is right in the end.

Thank you for your service. You do not deserve these attacks. You are a true leader in the community and some hate you for this and your success. Do not let them win by tearing you down. Only a few loud malcontents are voicing these baseless accusations.

Could you please tell me WHEN and WHY the ERIE COUNTY PROBATE COURT and the Erie County Common Pleas MERGED with the Cuyahoga County Court?

Anonymous

Tell me, how do you know they just won't do that? Got an answer?

Anonymous

When will everyone who has a grievance in this county finally say enough is enough? It takes a serious problem and numerous people to effect a radical change in the system. If the community challenged Mr. Baxter to attend a public forum in Sandusky, he could personally answer the questions that have raised tremendous concerns for more than a decade. If he is willing to attend a meeting with the public, then he will be making the first step toward clearing himself from much of the speculations that are surfacing about him.

If you can't find a way to get a case out of Erie County so the corrupt Cuyahoga County judges can FIX it then bring the corrupt retired Lorain County judges into Erie County.

Public meeting with Baxter? I can see it all now. ALL of the GOBS will be there and if anyone DARE to challenge Baxter, you can be sure that they will be "quickly silenced" by false imprisonment or "black balled" for life. What happened to all those ministers, including Mr. Darden? They sure have been quiet for some reason. Recall the public meeting between Murrat and the ministers and you will see that nothing happened. It's business as usual.

People have posted questions in this online forum. Let Baxter answer the questions. How about replying to some of the questions posted by "Questions, Questions and more Questions"? It is a public online blog. Go for it Baxter.

The best for Baxter would be for him to call in the FBI and Attorney General. Why not?
All this BS about using Murman, old outside judges and "private investigations" is all BULLSH*T!

You had one woman who challenged Baxter and look what happened to her. She got a crooked judge who refused to listen to the defense. And why all of the SECRETS concerning the former police chief? The ONLY HONEST option for Baxter is to call in the Attorney General and FBI to do a complete and UNBIASED investigation.

The fear that is instilled by the powerful K.J.B. is reminiscent of the K.G.B. in the U.S.S.R !

Who in the hell would want to come in and make their home in this community with all its corruption----a corrupt legal system that has no respect for the law, a corrupt legal system that has no respect for its citizens and a corrupt legal system that doesn't even have any RESPECT for the DECEASED. All one has to do is read all these comments about the PROBATE FRAUD that's going on to see that........

Anonymous

Are you kidding? The county commission is not going to call for an ivestigation of Baxter. One commissioner, Baxter's brother -in-law, Bill Monaghan is very much involved in Baxter's problems. Another commissioner, Tom Ferrell is a GOB, and Baxter's buddy. There are only three commissioners. Baxter controls the majority.

Anonymous

I don't know what it will take for the people of sandusky to wake up and vote in someone else kevin has done his duty and now it's time for change......lets vote him out this time sandusky...

Anonymous

I'd say that all the commissioners are part of the GOB club. The Health Board is Too. They controll everyones lives to benifit their own private business interests. None of it has anything to do with the good people that are paying their wages and benifits. Then these crooks don't even pay their taxes to put their contribution back into our city. The Marena project and downtown will only be developed as the GOB club obtains the cash to do so, keeping those profits in their pockets also. Why else would it be taking so long for downtown SAndusky to be developed? The buildings have been falling into disrepair for many years and not only an eyesore but a dead weight in non revenues for the city.

Anonymous

I like a prior posters' suggestion that we should all vote for ourselves this next election. I truely wish someone else would run...not a GOB.

Anonymous

What happened to the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance and Rev. Darden? Have all of you been threatened by the GOBs? Why all of the silence? Have you been threatened or did you get a bunch of money from the GOBs to keep quiet?
Why the silence from all of you?

Anonymous

I also remember that wen the FBI came down on Cleveland, they had a special task force from other areas that was used. The local FBI office wasn't envolved. So then how would one begin to contact them for any help of an investigation into all this? How high does this GOB club go?

Anonymous

How high does the GOB club go? Well, one thing for certain---Baxter's got all the judges and lawyers in his back pocket even the corrupt judges and lawyers in Cuyahoga County. And vice versa. Erie County and Cuyahoga County, not to mention their RETIRED JUDGES BULL, have got themselves a neat little illegal system worked out and its been going on for a looooong time. Just watch how it unfolds in the Nuesse saga.....

Does she have a law degree? Maybe she could run for Prosecutor?!

Anonymous

In reference to matters concerning corruption in Erie County, it is better to contact the Department of Justice in Washington D.C., rather than the Cleveland office or the one on Columbus Avenue in Sandusky.

Anonymous

Isn't Krista Harris in jail? Seems like that's where EVERYBODY is that dared to complain about Baxter. I guess it pays to be a prosecutor......but then all good things must come to an end sooner or later.

Yep, we're all WHACKED, right? Just the rantings of CRAZY PEOPLE! What's whacked, are the unfair ways of the Erie Cnty. Justice System! A BLIND MAN could see it., as well those with the misfortune to have experienced it! What better way to protect yourself, than to surround yourself with those also evidently absent of CONSCIENCE! Nothing worse than ELECTED POLITICIANS who are of the thought process that they can continue to ignore those who put them there! Remember Mr. Dann?! They say it's the quiet ones you need to watch out for! I'm always trying to hang onto the belief that justice will truely prevail, if not in this lifetime, than the next! Just maybe, voters will send a message with their vote? Or, should I say, LACK-THEREOF! Personally, I'll be doing a cross-over when it comes to voting for Erie Cnty. Comm., as well State Rep.! Good luck Mr. Enderle, Printy and Heyberger!

citizen

I don't know what's going on in these corrupt counties but SOMETHING sure is. How does an ELECTED, arrogant and immoral judge----that doesn't even TRY to hide how vicious and corrupt she is----get away with sentencing a 51 year old woman to 8 YEARS in prison when NOBODY, not even ONE person that she accused of corruption, made any attempt to prove what she was saying was a lie? What the heck is this anyway----OHIO COMMUNISM?
