I always thought voters decided who got the city’s ex-officio mayor’s post -- by ballot -- and the prize went to the top votegetter.
Commissioner Dave Waddington was the candidate who got the most votes when he was re-elected in 2007. A tally of more than 500 votes above the candidate with the next highest vote total.
But Waddington didn’t get the nod from his fellow commissioners back then. Here’s hoping he gets it this time when Dennis Murray Jr. resigns commission if he’s elected state representative.
Sure. Sure. Commissioner Craig “Barney” Stahl wants it so bad he’s already smooching it up with anyone who’ll listen. But Craig’s leadership in the No. 2 spot this year has been lacking, stubborn and foolishly wasteful of tax dollars.
Waddington will have to step aside at the end of his current four-year term due to term limits. His last two years on the Sandusky City Commission should be as mayor.
