Phil Frost was camera shy, and angry about it

Here's how life works for Sandusky police Lt. Phil Frost: When his boss gives him an order he doesn't understand, she's a liar. When he misleads the Murman investigators, he calls those "misstatements."

Phil Frost

Frost acknowledged Thursday that several statements attributed to him in the Murman report were "inaccurate" or "misstatements."

City officials should be embarrassed the expensive legal team they hired to conduct fired police Chief Kim Nuesse's civil service hearing actually believe Phil is a credible witness. He threw a fit during his testimony on Thursday because a reporter snapped a photograph of him while he was on the witness stand. Gosh Phil, you're a public official on the taxpayer payroll. You should at least have had the guts to speak out publicly and allow the reporter to not only photograph you but also videotape your testimony. After all, you want to get the truth out there, don't you?

When Nuesse testified earlier this month she allowed her entire testimony to be recorded and videotaped.

The city's legal team appears to be actively encouraging its witnesses to demand their testimony not be videotaped or recorded in any way. Does that mean they don't want residents to see this? If it does, that might mean they don't want the truth out there and by their actions are continuing to conceal it.

I agree with the sentiments these two commenters expressed earlier this week.

I hate no one. I do not approve of what she has done to this city. She and her supporters have attacked anyone who dares agree that she deserved to be fired. Her number one support Westerhold makes personal attacks of some very fine police officers. So if you want to talk about hate, I think there is plenty on the other side.

Ok Matt....we're all ready for your next hard hitting editorial, so we can BLAST you yet again. Whatta you work like once a month Matt?? Is there not enough going on in "Nuessegate" for you to write about? Does your day job as back up french fry guy at McDonalds keep you too busy and your not able to spend as much time as you would like with Kim and the "World Class" publication you call the Sandumpsky Register? Well I thik I speak for all when I say, take off as much time as you want, I think we will live without reading your cowardly slander of public servants a while longer.

Quit using oxymorons like, very fine police officers. Please name one and I don't mean a relative or friend. Also to ZZZZZZ, you do not speak for all, not even close. It is just your opinion and nothing more. I think Matt is doing a great job and needs to write more articles to bring the corruption to the front. If people do not like what he says don't bother reading it. When you don't like a song on the radio or your mp3 you change either the channel or the you advance to the next song. Me thinks you just like to be heard and see your moronic statements on line. Move on to another subject.

I hate the good 'ole boy network in this County and I know for a fact it exists. Dishonest, unethical, immoral, corrupt---you name it that's what they are and then some. Kim Nuesse didn't do anything to this city; quite the opposite is what the idiots in this city did to her. I also do not agree with your opinion of Matt Westerhold. For years the Sandusky Register protected Baxter and the shady crap that was going on and everybody knew it. Matt Westerhold has my respect for finally publishing the truth.

I guess you Nuesse supporters are in the minority. Baxter, Lyons and the rest continue to get reelected. The very few and vocal supporters that she has, are not going to change anything. All you do is attack the very fine public servants that we have. The only public servant that was not doing their job got fired, Nuesse.

I hope you see how much Erie County cares about your thoughts on issues and public officials... All of the people you endorsed lost. So now is the time to go back to your job of editing the paper and not giving us your irrelevant insight on everything under the sun, because it is apparent that NO ONE CARES!!!!

Anonymous

Baxter, Lyons and the rest are very fine public servants? Give me a break. Would you like me to tell what I know about ALL of them?

Anonymous

Complain all you want about Lyons and Baxter. They just got reelected and are very popular. They do a great job. The few Nuesse supporters hate them, but the majority of the county love them. If they didn't, they would be gone.

Does every SPD ranking officer have the 70's 'stache? My god, are they all rejects from the 70's adult movie industry?

It seems every ranking officer has the same look. Weird, huh?

those be cookie dusters. yumm. samoas or thin mints phil? a parking ticket is far worse than outright theft from girl scouts, right?

Anonymous

OF COURSE THEY WERE RE-ELECTED YOU DOLT,
THEY WERE THE ONLY ONES ON THE TICKET!!

Anonymous

Again the name calling when you have nothing intelligent to say. They ran unopposed because no one thinks that they can beat them. If they were that bad, people would be lining up to take them on. They are great leaders and do an outstanding job. Just like Tom Ferrell who just was reelected!

K.B. is a thug, thief, and people are afraid of him. Who in he11 would run against someone who robbed his Mothers estate? No one runs against Bother Brian for coroner, either. K=democrat, B=republican, both parties sewed up?
Who hires D. Icsman? How does he get such a lucrative job? Unopposed? $106k, last I heard??????He another of your heros?
Terry is a good sheriff, but the hiring of Gary may have been perfect timing to avoid any political reprecussions. A part time job making 40k yearly, unadvertised, and again unapposed.
They run unapposed, or unchallenged, because they are the Good Ole Boyz.

You sure do whine a lot. What's a matter, jealous. You sure do have a lot of hate. There are doctors out there for that. Seek help, life will be much better for you. In the mean time, get use to it. You are not going to do anything about it. The people have spoken. Kevin, Brian, Terry and Tom will be in office for another four years.

Anonymous

Who would run against the good ole boys when they know they got it made? Certainly not the lawyers. I heard even the out of town lawyers love Baxter and the judges in this County and with good reason----they make money by committing fraud! What a great County we all live and pay taxes in! What a great bunch of public servants we have!

Taxpayer

This is hard to believe. When Phil started into LE he actually believed he could make a difference. Now, it appears he has forgotten what LE is all about. When you are deceptive under oath, then you have forgotten the meaning of being a cop. I just cannot believe it. The case against Nuesse has just gotten weaker. I do appreciate Matt Westerhold doing his job in reporting these disappointing facts. He is entitled to his opinion just like all of you. Who will be next to testify and who will be next to disappoint the taxpayers?

With great mustache comes great responsibility.

I am sure Matt is so happy to read that an anonymous blogger 'has his/her/its respect'. Wow.

Anonymous

So everyone is lying except Nuesse. Come on, get real. Let's see, I did not get the ticket, the car did. I did not get the CP tickets as chief. The lap tops were never taken out of the cars. These are all one hundred percent lies. So far four Sandusky Police Officers and a fire chief with more then twenty years on the job each have testified. And they would risk all those years for why? I know each one of those officers. And I know the eleven police supervisors that signed the no confidence vote in Nuesse's abilities. They are not lying, she is. And all of you Nuesse supporters will attack all the other witnesses that tell how she lied. Oh well, she was fired, is fired and will stay fired.

What the heck is this big deal about a stupid parking ticket? Erie County allowing attorneys to criminally transfer the trust property of an incompetent resident of the ECCF on a forged POA hidden in another county and then defrauding one of the beneficiaries to the property is a lot worse than that. Don't look now but property cost a lot more than $15.00. Erie County allowing Lorain County attorneys to criminally remove permanent records from the Recorder's office to cover up fraud is no small matter, either. And that was only a small part of it. So take your bull about Kim Nuesse's joke $15.00 parking ticket and put it where the sun doesn't shine. She was railroaded and everybody knows it!

Anonymous

Well downplay her ticket, her lies, and all the other things. Obviously you don't get it and never will. I want a chief of police that doesn't lie and has the respect of her peers. so for you, she was fired, is fired and will stay fired. If you don't like it, tough!

Anonymous

So far four Sandusky Police Officers and a fire chief with more then twenty years on the job each have testified FALSELY

Anonymous

degrading the witnesses. Quit saying your issue (which isn't the topic, and nobody cares about) is worse than Nuesse's actions, or lack thereof. Quit trying to armchair quarterback when you weren't there to actually see what happened. Bottom line, this employee did not meet the standards or wishes, etc. of their boss, and the boss has the right to let them go. Happens every day. Ms. Nuesse isn't something special, she just wants you to think she is.

Anonymous

Really? Does that mean if the public servants and public officials in this county do not meet the standard of their bosses (the taxpayers) the bosses have the right to let them go? Or do they all gather together like the bunch of tyrant bullies they are and set up farce trials like the one Kim Nuesse is in?

Anonymous

We want a prosecutor that doesn't lie and has the respect of the taxpayers.
We want judges that don't lie and have the respect of the taxpayers.
We want public officials that don't lie and have the respect of the taxpayers.
We want county commissioners that don't lie and have the respect of the taxpayers.
Is there any part of this that you don't get?

Anonymous

Absolutely correct. It the elected officials don't meet standards, then the public can fire them. Obviously this is not the case with Lyons, Baxter or Ferrell. They all just got reelected. The people have spoke and they don't agree with the very small group of Nuesse supporters.

Taxpayer

I was hoping Phil would be a candidate for Chief of Police. But, it does not appear this will ever happen. All this hearing has done is air all his dirty laundry to the public. I do not like a personnel file being read into the open court records. But, it is all about credibility. We shall see what the others have in their files. No one is going to win.

Anonymous

Phil will be a candidate for chief. What was in the others files that testified?

Anonymous

OK Westerhold, next topic, please. (And hopefully it will be about something other than your lady love Nuesse.) Why do you leave the same blog up here for weeks at a time?

Anonymous

This one is dead, no one cares any more. I'm sure Matt will have an editorial about Crandall and Murray by tomorrow. Come on, we know it's coming, then that will be on this stupid blog for the next three weeks.
