Internet makes it to Carnegie Hall

Mar 23, 2010

Last night, musicians from all over the world performed Tan Dun's "The Internet Symphony" at Carnegie Hall.

In short, musicians from all over the world auditioned on YouTube. Those selected played the symphony in a world-wide human mash up (yes, that's a storm trooper in the brass section, and yes, it includes a woman playing a saw, and another one on a pink recorder). Then last night, the musicians gathered in New York to play the piece in person together, for I believe the first time.

Here's the mashup:

Recordings of last night's performance will appear on the YouTube page: -- there's lots of other cool stuff about the event on there too.

nick has been updated with the video of the actual performance at Carnegie Hall.
