What I eat in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas

I would like to start by thanking all of you who are posting positive comments to my blog. I check the blog every day to read the comments. Your thoughtful words help me when I'm having an "all I want to do is eat" day.

I started a new three-week workout routine. Wow! I had aches in places I didn't know I had muscles. Depending on my work schedule, I work out at Weigh of Life five to six days a week. Let me give you an example of my workout for the next three weeks.

I start with 50 jumping jacks. When Tyra told me I had to do jumping jacks, I laughed and said to her, "I think you are going to have to show me how to do one of those." I had not done a jumping jack since grade school. It's just like riding a bike, though. I soon remembered how much I disliked them.

Now, that I am off subject, let me tell you the rest of the warm-up. After the jumping jacks, I do 30 sit-ups, 45 push-ups and then I move onto kicks on the stair-stepper machine. I do 40 kicks per leg. Once I am done with my warm-up, I ride the bike for 15 minutes, walk the treadmill for eight minutes and then move onto eight minutes on the elliptical trainer.

Previously, when I had worked out, I was only able to do about five minutes on an elliptical without feeling like my knees were going to give out on me. I'm impressed with myself that I can do eight minutes without any problems now. My cool down time is the same as my warm-up. All together, I do 100 jumping jacks, 60 sit-ups, 90 push-ups and 160 kicks. I was worn out on Monday (Jan. 26) when I started this workout routine.

I'm still drinking about a gallon of water a day. I think drinking all that water helps me to stay full throughout the day. The two snacks I eat help, too. My kids are starting to adjust to the new way of eating, my boyfriend on the other hand, not so well. I constantly hear from my boyfriend that we do not have any food in the house. Believe me, we have food, just not the kind he wants to eat.

My oldest daughter has even started to ask to exercise with me. She is only 7, but I let her do some things with me at home like sit-ups or an exercise video. It's nice to see that the children are starting to take an interest in becoming healthy.

I almost forgot. I am now down 13 pounds. I'm hoping to be down 20 pounds by the Feb. 9. Why you ask? I'm leaving to go to Las Vegas that day. Don't worry, I'm not going to forget to workout and eat right.

I'm looking forward to a good workout week ahead, I was unable to work out on Saturday (Jan. 31) since I started to come down with a cold. I'm ready to get back in the gym and burn some calories. I hope we don't get this snow they are calling for, but if we do, that is just more calories to burn while I'm out shoveling snow.

Keep up the great work! Sounds like a great workout plan...just remember to change it up to utilize muscle confusion and so that you don't get bored. And WOW! You can do 90 pushups!? That's awesome! You will be sure to reach your 20lb goal!
