Recommitting to the gym

Ken Gipe
Mar 23, 2010

It was a pretty uneventful last week. I got in three good workouts. One with Trevor and two while I was officiating at the state swim meet in Canton.

The hotel I stayed at had a nice fitness room with a treadmill, elliptical machine and recumbent bike, as well as a weight machine, fitness ball and dumbbells. To top it off, there was an indoor pool and hot tub adjacent to the fitness room. I used this facility twice and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially being able to go in the hot tub and pool to relax after the 45-to-60 minute workout.

Eating was not too bad. I had a shake and fruit every morning, a high-protein lunch and normal, balanced dinner each day between sessions of swimming and diving. I tried to have some popcorn at the hotel, but it burned in the microwave, so I guess I wasn’t supposed to have it.

I have lost 37 pounds and 15.5 inches since Jan. 1. Now that swimming is over, I hope to be able to increase my workout frequency and intensity and have a really good month of March. I have only averaged about two workouts a week for the past two months. I have done well, but am looking forward to some really great progress since I will have more time to work out and prepare my food in advance. Also, I hope the weather will break and I can get out and do some bicycling.

this article is terrible and about nothing. Which is an everlinking chain to more nothing. You wrote a good article about a month ago so get to the point with an excitig introduction and grab the reader. Quit tip-toeing around with a diary of a boring day.

I find this blog offensive to brain dead people who don't have thinking process like that of which she writes about...i.e...like the people at the Register who print this girl's waste of ink! Go DELIVER the paper, take off the glasses & please take on a school paper if they have one. If not, start one!

The thing that gets me is some of these slams against others anonymously could be against your own friends &/or relatives. At least your blog is worth looking at & not something that looks like an 'energy drink swiggin' kid' who gets way too much air time.

Brian

Sue,
You do a great job. You comments are both educational and interesting. Keep up the good work. I have been following your advise and comments for years. You are the best.

Perhaps you are the Va-JJ Bitter divorced. Have no fear. You will not be placed in an intellectual group. Despite the attempt to impress with your falsely "intellectual" comments. We won't recent you, errr... resent you. Promise. And I will give you the A$$Hole with a capital H.

Actually us "angry bloggers" are planted here by Matt Westerhold to make the hit counter rise.

I CHECKED FOR THOSE $25.00 CEDAR POINT TICKETS YOU HAVE THE LINK FOR, 35 MINS AFTER YOU POSTED THE LINK, AND IMAGINE THAT ALL SOLD OUT IN 20 MINS. WHAT DID THE ASSWIPES DO HAVE 3 OR 4 AT THAT PRICE, OR DID YOU DROP THE BALL AGAIN NICKY.

Wow. People are so mean that it makes you wonder if they "thought" about what to say before typing it out and hitting the 'post comment' button.
We all get diarrhea of the mind sometimes... it's like a run-on thought. This is also known as a train of thought. People with ADD and ADHD have minds that often work that way, fluttering quickly from one thing to the next.
This article, although somewhat mundane, is still creative. I believe thoughts are things and almost everything we do requires using the thought process... so I wanted to thank C-Shell (my goofy nickname for her now) for using her mind to write and share with us.
Just my opinion but for all the meanies out there... mean thoughts pollute your mind which, in turn, makes it waste and a mind is a terrible thing to waste!

I don't think there are as many people posting degrading, mean and vulgar things as people think there are. I think a lot of these very nasty comments that appear to be made on ALL the blogs are coming from just two maybe three people. Also wanted to let you know, Sue, I think you do a fantastic job! I've been following your advice for a long time. Keep up the good work!

angry bloggers have no outlet for the frustrastions they feel in life, be it career, personal relationships or something unimaginable. no one can ever know what another is truly feeling. so hiding behind a false identity and lashing out at the world for things that they have the ability to change if they would just get involved with life, mainly their own! your heart is in the right place you do what you do because you love to do it!!

Ms. Daugherty, Your blog subject and many of the subsequent comments have reminded me of the following quotes:

Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people.
- Eleanor Roosevelt

“Great minds have purposes, others have wishes. Little minds are tamed and subdued by misfortune; but great minds rise above them.” - Washington Irving

"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." -- Bertrand Russell

I also wonder how Sue is getting caught up in the SR blog, never expected you to be this way. I hope you don't turn into a Matt, please don't. Seems the whole paper is angry and needs to express their opinions to openly, I don't think they should be.

I think that Harvey's comments were right on the money. If it weren't for the SOS levy and the medicare and social security that I am forced to pay, I could afford a bigger house and a bigger SUV. Sue, you failed to explain why the rest of us have to keep writing the check for those who failed to plan. The generation you reference did catastrophic damage to the rest of us with their entitlements, handouts, Vietnam, etc. We owe them nothing, they owe us.

By the way, there is a great youtube video of elderly people in Vegas with walkie talkies and cellphones creating bus raids on free casino buffets, I will try to post it.

Quit hating people! If this blog isnt your cup of tea then quit coming here!
(You are doing a fine job Michelle)

Hey I read your recommendation and she and some good points. But I am not here to Bully little Miss Michelle. You are a moron! Michelle is getting better at what she does. But she still s*cks! However, one of these days she will be at the heart of something and she will make a difference. By the way Michelle. Utah is a whole lot better place than Ohio! Even if its filled with FLDS! Yeah Michelle, I have an idea are you mormon? If not what was it like living around a ton of mormons? How do things differ from here and Utah? Maybe you should write about that. No bubble gum please.

INSANE CLOWN POSSE:

Ya might as well lay back, relax, and try to enjoy the ‘experience.’

You’re shouting at the ocean, attempting to stop the tide. Wait’ll the Boomers come of age – you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

The seniors vote and they’ve got the largest partially taxpayer funded lobbying group in the U.S. – AARP.

I’ve been invited, but I won’t join ‘em, ‘cause I’m diametrically opposed politically to most if not all of the socialist ward-of-state garbage that they support.

Coming up, my spouse and I learned to live on 90 percent or less of our income, while saving and investing the balance.

(Check out Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds – ‘Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!!’)

Sue Daugherty

TO JEFF - I enjoyed reading your contribution. I admire how you & your wife were so self-disciplined that you could save 90% of what you made! YOU SHOULD WRITE A BOOK ABOUT THAT! I'm impressed -- Very impressed!!

I enjoyed your quotes... Especially this one - The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts." -- Bertrand Russell "

So, will you do me a favor? Will you please comment and make a criticism (or multiple criticisms, for that matter!) to something I've blogged. It would be an example of how people can disagree with the blogger, while at the same time respectfully exchanging ideas that are in opposition to one another. It appears as though some of the readers are having difficulty with this concept. (I say this sincerely... NOT sarcasticly.)

I'll look forward to your opposing remarks. -- Sue

I will have to agree with some of the preceding comments and say that this blog was rather pointless and it was a recapping of a restless night in the guise of an intelligent topic, so my point is, instead of blogging about pointless topics try and get some of your beliefs out there. Stuff people can really grab on and relate to and save "blogs" like this for social networking website or a diary

p.s. (this is not hatemail only constructive criticism ^_^)

Gulliver

To All Who Are Disgruntled with the blogger (Michelle). As readers we all have preferences. Our brains are wired differenly. Some find a Steven King book better than a romantic novel; a biography as better reading than a self-help book.

This is no different. Blogs like this hit home with some and not with others. If it didn't flip your switch, it doesn't mean she should change how she blogs or should stop blogging... It is simply means it wasn't for you. And that's all it means.

I find Michelle to be very creative... and mature.

Kelly

Ummm Sue? They LIVED on 90% and saved & invested the rest.

Sue Daugherty

TO KELLY. LOL... Thank you, Kelly. That's what I get for "skimming" while I read and not "reading" while I read. Your interpretation makes much more sense! :) Hast does make waste, doesn't it? Thanks for the laugh (at myself). -- Sue

Anonymous

I thought it was "Haste does make wast."

I just wanted to point it out before someone else did..probably in a not-so-nice way.

Are you a psycho-therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, or a behavioralist therapist? If the answer is no to any of the above, your opinion as to why people choose to say what they really feel believing that he or she is hiding under the cloak of anonimity is worthless to me. Case and point this is a small town filled with small minded people who pounce on the opportunity to post mean, hateful, racist filled comments that hurt because they can. The register gives those closet bigots the opportunity to come out of their closets spew hateful things and then sit next to those that they hate so bad at employee lunch table.

Maybe that is because you are family and or a child pervert. I think personally you are stalker
