BLOG: If You Can't See The Light, Can You At Least Embrace The Practical?

Bryan Dubois
Nov 16, 2010

I apologize in advance for this, but Rufus Sanders's "Seeing The Light" column provides another opportunity to examine the priorities and thought processes of leftists.  Sanders openly states what most other leftists try to hide.  I hate to keep bringing Rufus up, but his column gives the middle and right a chance to debate the ideas to which he and other leftists cling.

Leftists believe that the repudiation they suffered on November 2nd had little to do with the policies they tried to force down the throats of Americans - but supposedly had more to do with Obama and the Democrats failure to convey the message.  (It's never the ideology, you see.  Always something else.)

Instead of repeating the left's narrative about how Obama failed to explain to Americans how his policies have benefited them, (this artful explanation would allow the left to blame anything other than the ideology.) Mr. Sanders tosses caution to the wind and openly states that nothing anybody says will convince him to re-think his belief that increasing government power is the only way to battle social ills in this country.

Memo to Sanders and other leftists:  There is little difference between the greed for money and lusting for power.  Both exist in the behemoth goverment we've created.  The mistake you leftists make is believing that big government is somehow better than big business.  You delude yourselves with the fantasy that you seek power for the betterment of the country, instead all you end up doing is centralizing government power to chase an unreachable utopian fantasy.  (How's that 'war on drugs' working out?  How about the 'war on poverty?')  At least with big business, the people have a choice on whether to work hard to achieve a better lot in life.  With big government, the ruling class would have the power to take all of that away.

Stay in the dark with the idea that government has all the answers.  Lots of innovation there:  Give the power to the government and then get angry when it can't solve your problems.  Always worked in the past, hasn't it?

pete, nobody gives a rat's $$ what the repubs excuse is.

Pete

Actually Brutus, according to the last election results, yes they do.

At least by the complete and utter slamming the Dems took in the voting booth

Pete

But Republicans opposed using emergency funds for the $12.5-billion cost of the jobless aid. Instead, they wanted the benefits paid by shifting federal funds from economic stimulus accounts or from other programs.

Lawmakers voted 258-154 to extend the jobless benefits, falling short of the two-thirds majority needed to pass the fast-track measure. Eleven Democrats and 143 Republicans were among those voting no.

Rep. Charles Boustany Jr. (R-La.) argued that Democrats, by bringing the bill to the floor without providing a way to pay for its costs, failed to heed the anti-spending message of the election.

"Are you even listening to the American people?" Boustany said.

Well here ya go. All the Republicans wanted was it paid for. But the Democrats won't do that. Why? Better to use unemployed Americans for political gain than to do the proper thing!

So Lefties, why do Democrats hate unemployed Americans so much? Seems they do now doesn't it?

Seems to me, as we argue over semantics, our government does what it wants to, and what serves It best, behind our backs.

Pete, never in a million years will you catch up to me in the taxes I have paid.    I'm not working for minimun wage.   In all probability, make several dollars an hour more than you.   Point being,  flying spaghetti monster help you if you ever have a tragedy in your family health-wise with no insurance coverage.  You'll be very very sorry  you were anti- Obama Care.  \

But  hey, believe in your god to bail you out of hard times.   What a crock.  I'd rather see my tax dollars go to fund health insurance for the poor.   That's just me.

Oh, I'm pro-choice also.  I'd rather  my tax dollars pay for an abortion than  go to support a life long welfare dependant or a woman who does not feel she's in the right time or place to have a child.

How can you repubitards want to repeal Roe V. Wade and yet had such hatred towards welfare recipients who have child after child?

Pete

Glad you're rich! So here is my suggestion: Take your net each week and give it away. You can call it "adopt a  poor person" or whatever you like. Find a neighbor and pay their health insurance. You can do that now or after they repeal Obamamcare. Just don't ask me to pay for it

Oh by the way, I am pro choice too. And not a holy roller. And I haven't made minimum wage since 1984. Just an anti rammed down my throat taxpayer. But  if it makes you feel better to think you make boatloads more than me go for it. We all know libtards have small minds but big egos so dream away cupcake.

So go do what makes you feel good. Can't take it with ya right?

You forgot to add how immature pete is too.

Then you don't mind your tax dollars going to "welfare recipients who have child after child"?

If you're as wealthy as you claim, put your money where your mouth is and write an extremely generous unsolicited check to the U.S. Treasury - they won't refuse it.

Abortion is a legislative issue, not a judicial issue. Congress is too chicken to touch it.

IMO, it should be an issue for the 10th Amendment – each state should decide.

Is the Flying Spaghetti Monster in charge of the karmatic process? And you think that Christianity is weird? LOL

winnie says, "Abortion is a legislative issue, not a judicial issue. Congress is too chicken to touch it." It's neither. It is a personal issue. None of your business!

@ secret agent 006 1/64:

If true that it's "personal", then why is Roe v Wade the law of the land?

Being a Marxist, you don't mind paying for abortions and supporting welfare recipients having numerous children do you?

Raoul Duke

Instead of Libtards and Repubtards, I think they all like to be refered to as Govern-mentally Disabled.

mikel

i heard that the employees of gm were all getting a rosetta stone learn how to speak chinese for christmas as the chinese bought 23% of the stock offerings.  so who really owns gm?  us gov = 53%, multiple investment brokerages = 24% and the chinese = 23%!

Salvatore

I could not resist commenting.  Think about what mikel wrote. us gov = 53%, multiple investment brokerages = 24% and the chinese = 23%!. China will own 23%. The USA will own 53%. Since the USA is broke, where is the money borrowed from? If from China, then China could own 76% of GM. Quoting Khrushchev   "I once said, "We will bury you," and I got into trouble with it. Of course we will not bury you with a shovel. Your own working class will bury you."  THINK ABOUT IT.

So you and Krushchev are on the same wave length eh sal? Both of you blame the workers. Interesting.

The "Double Naught spy" writes:    “So you and Krushchev are on the same wave length eh sal? Both of you blame the workers. Interesting.”   Huh? You’re ignorant of Marxist economic theory aren’t you? Yet you blindly follow this nonsense? Not surprised.   According to the Marxist dialectic: Socialism is the the natural outgrowth of capitalism.   Marx wrote that a true socialist society can only evolve in an industrialized country.

It ain’t necessarily so, but that’s what the dopey Marxist-Socialists believe.

What is stopping any of the "higher taxes now" crew from simply sending more to the government of their own volition?

goofus

I'd rather be wasted away in Margaritaville than wasted in Obamaville.

The above statement was made by our very own pile of bs.

Now one question I have is why hasn't he been charged with impersonating a FEDERAL OFFICER???

Looking at his dribble leads you to believe he is with the CIA which is based there.

Now I wonder if he also has the Dick Tracy secret decoder ring.
