BLOG: If You Can't See The Light, Can You At Least Embrace The Practical?

Bryan Dubois
Nov 16, 2010

I apologize in advance for this, but Rufus Sanders's "Seeing The Light" column provides another opportunity to examine the priorities and thought processes of leftists.  Sanders openly states what most other leftists try to hide.  I hate to keep bringing Rufus up, but his column gives the middle and right a chance to debate the ideas to which he and other leftists cling.

Leftists believe that the repudiation they suffered on November 2nd had little to do with the policies they tried to force down the throats of Americans - but supposedly had more to do with Obama and the Democrats failure to convey the message.  (It's never the ideology, you see.  Always something else.)

Instead of repeating the left's narrative about how Obama failed to explain to Americans how his policies have benefited them, (this artful explanation would allow the left to blame anything other than the ideology.) Mr. Sanders tosses caution to the wind and openly states that nothing anybody says will convince him to re-think his belief that increasing government power is the only way to battle social ills in this country.

Memo to Sanders and other leftists:  There is little difference between the greed for money and lusting for power.  Both exist in the behemoth goverment we've created.  The mistake you leftists make is believing that big government is somehow better than big business.  You delude yourselves with the fantasy that you seek power for the betterment of the country, instead all you end up doing is centralizing government power to chase an unreachable utopian fantasy.  (How's that 'war on drugs' working out?  How about the 'war on poverty?')  At least with big business, the people have a choice on whether to work hard to achieve a better lot in life.  With big government, the ruling class would have the power to take all of that away.

Stay in the dark with the idea that government has all the answers.  Lots of innovation there:  Give the power to the government and then get angry when it can't solve your problems.  Always worked in the past, hasn't it?

Yeah, same here.

Bryan, I must correct you.   I have no respect for holier-than-thou christians.   People like yourself who seem to think you have an "in" with god because you talk the talk.   Unfortunately, you don't walk the walk.

And, wouldn't you know...  Jesus, Buddha & Allah showed up in my Alphabits this morning....creepy eh?

Bryan Dubois

So you insult Christians by mockinly state that you found Christ in your eggo this morning.  Hmm.

Meow, in your opinion, what is "the walk?"

Temporarily changing the subject -   Man:   “I was standing in line at Starbucks yesterday and the guy in front of me turned around and stuck his hand down my pants.   I asked, ‘What are you doing?’”

He replied, “I’m retired TSA; I still like to keep my hand in things.”

Mr. Dubois:   Actually, if Marxists “walked-the-walk,” they’d give away all their processions and keep only those that they needed for survival. Of course it's the authorities, not they who get to decide what it is that they need for survival.   They also seem to conveniently forget that they live in the wealthiest country in the world and if they indeed wanted to “spread-the-wealth” globally, their standard of living would ultimately be far lower.      Most Marxists (socialists) can’t conceptualize their thinking much beyond easy-to-remember slogans and childish insults.

Bryan Dubois says

Dudeabides, I'm quite sure God doesn't care about my political views.  Never said otherwise.  Leftist philosophy goes far beyond political views.  They encompass an entire godless worldview which is sometimes exploited by political figures to reach their goals.  For example, Obama used the concept of class warfare (Marxism) to accomplish his political goals of becoming POTUS.  (Some say the two are inseparable which make it difficult for him to acknowledge anyone who disagrees with his worldview.)

Massengill,  I'm not "judging" others.  I'm simply pointing out that leftist beliefs are rooted in godlessness.  If you can articulate why I'm wrong, please do so.  (My bet is that you can't.)

So calling a large segment of the population godless is walking the walk bryan? People in glass houses should not throw stones.

<< John 8 >>
New International Version

1But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?” 6They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

11“No one, sir,” she said.

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Ol’ secret agent smith a “Bible thumper”?  ROFLMAO!!!!   brutus smith, Sept. 10, 2010:    "Actually a bunch (of) Stone Age right wingnuts wrote the Old Testament."

You don't walk the walk with statements like this:

" At least with big business, the people have a choice on whether to work hard to achieve a better lot in life."

Are you for real?  Spoken more like a true neo-conservative-- as opposed to a godly man such as you.  I am in a position to see for myself just how much "big business" as helped my fellow man.  By laying him/her off after 20 years of service, by moving overseas, by underhanded practices (Enron) stealing their hard-earned savings.     Not to mention all your pi$$ing and moaning about the health care bill.

Whereas the evil government these past two years has been pleading to get unemployment comp extensions just so these people can keep some semblance of their life.  And yet their end is near because I'm sure now with the exchange of power, no extension will be given.   Just try finding a job right now Bryan--they just aren't there.  Any hey, if they can't feed themselves, why give them health insurance?  They're just going to starve anyway.

Yep, you christians sure do care about your fellow man.

Pete

meowmix,

Please tell me why the R's didn't pass the unemployment extension. Go on the web and find it. Isn't that hard to do

And also, why should anyone be GIVEN anything? That includes health care. Why should I get up at 4:30 every morning and go to work so I can pay for someone else to stay in bed and consume my taxes?

Raoul Duke

I guess life would be easier if everyone agreed, and thought the same way. But that wouldn't leave much reason to be alive. Life has always been about making choices. To make a choice, you have to have more than one thing to choose from. Making choices defines who you are. Freedom is the ability to choose. There is no right or wrong, just choices.

If I am not mistaken Jesus healed all those that were sick both the rich and the poor.  He did not help only those with the ability to pay.  If I am not mistaken...... that sounds very similiar to socialized medicine based on need not the ability to pay.  Not only that, when he performed his miracles and fed the masses, he did not give the rich man 20 fishes and give the poor 1/2 a fish.  "All were fed".  Sounds like Jesus was a Marxist!

Massengill Wins...

Does anybody else see the irony of Rep. Bachmann who is against extending unemployment benefits but has no problems with collecting farm subsidies herself?  This is not about principle it is clearly about greed!

6079 Smith W
@ meowmix:   Yep! Just keep raising taxes and increasing regulation on business and watch as more of ‘em close up or move off shore.   With so many people with attitudes like yours, why would any sensible thinking person what to risk their capital to start a business in this state or this country?   Regarding Federal unemployment extension and other health and welfare taxpayer provided benefits:   Approx. 41 cents of every dollar the Federal govt. spends is borrowed. Either everyone's personal taxes will need to be raised or benefits cut – which should it be?

Quick question for ya in re: to this statement

Did the Romans force JC to do this, or did he do it of his own free will?

meowmix

Excellent points Massengill!

Pete--really?   You're the ONLY ONE who gets up and goes to work everyday???  Since age 19 I have worked at least 40 hours per week with the exception of the two years I stayed at home when my daughter was born.   I am now over 50 years old.   I'm 99.99% sure I have paid much more in taxes than you.

You have the typical neo-con attitude that everyone who does not work is laying around looking for a handout from you.   Your  opinion couldn't be farther from the truth.

A factory in Port Clinton just closed it's doors.  So, what are those people to do?  How is it THEIR fault?

Yep, you sound like another christian.  So very resentful of the have-nots...  WHY?

6079 Smith W
@ Feminine hygiene product smith:   Jesus healed based on the strength of the recipient’s faith.     Marx was an atheist and hated religion. Your conclusion that Jesus was a Marxist is laughably absurd.

(People of all faiths throughout history have experienced miraculous healings.)

Smith--------tell me, just WHEN since Obama's term began did your taxes increase??????

Got news for ya, with go old Kasich in office, now you're going to see them go up!  Along with the tax extention for the rich deadline nearing.

Got news for you, as a person who does care about my fellow human being instead of  a psuedo christian, I won't mind if my taxes are increased to help those less fortunate.

Even though I don't believe in heaven or hell I do believe in Karma to a certain extent.  You'll get yours, and I'll get mine.

Must be a pretty short workday pete if you are on here posting at 9 am.

And the old taxes and regulations thing. That's so 80's winnie. Greed, nothing else, nothing more.

Why is it anyone’s “fault”?

Aren’t they adults; don’t they have personal responsibilty to ultimately support themselves and their families?

Why is left to their fellow citizens to feed, cloth and shelter them? That's what charities are for.

Why bother working if taxpayers will give you adequate room and board for free?

Why don't you send the govt. a personal check and help out?

6079 Smith W

@ meowmix:

Haven’t your state and local taxes and service fees gone up?

Also, ya can’t just look at the personal Federal income tax rates, ya also gotta look at increases in other Federal taxes and service fees.

Why wait for a tax increase? Send ‘em a generous check now!

If you believe in karma, you believe in supernatural powers beyond your rational control. Who or what decides how exactly this mysterious process operates?

Winston says:

???????  Having difficulty distinguishing economic systems from religion there Smith?  It is obvious you have difficulty telling the difference between fantasy and reality.  Do you know what is absurd?.?.?.....  a grown man who takes a fictional book and makes that the basis of his political thought.  Clearly a member of the Atlas Shrugged Moron Club.

Pete

Since I have been 18 I have worked 40 hours at least except maybe a total of a month. Started after I graduated High School and have worked ever since. I am 44 so give me a few years and I am sure I will catch up to ya on amounts paid.

And there are plenty of people that sleep in every day and consume taxes. If you want to support them, send them a check. Go for it. Send them your entire net. Less I have to pay

Did you find out what caused the R's to not vote for the unenjoyment extension yet?
