Lester Crawford, a former commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). According to an October 17, 2006, Associated Press article, Crawford "abruptly resigned" from the FDA in September 2005 and pleaded guilty to charges of "conflict of interest and false reporting of information about stocks he owned in food, beverage and medical device companies he was in charge of regulating" in October 2006. According to the AP article, "[b]eginning in 2002, Crawford filed seven incorrect financial reports with a government ethics office and Congress, leading to the charges." Brian J. Doyle, former deputy press secretary for the Department of Homeland Security. OnSeptember 19, 2006, Doyle "pleaded no contest to seven counts of using a computer to seduce a child and 16 counts of transmitting harmful material to a minor," according to The Ledger of Lakeland, Florida. Claude A. Allen, former assistant to the president for domestic policy. Allen resigned in February 2006 after a January 2006 police investigation concerning multiple fraudulent returns to a Target store in Gaithersburg, Maryland. On August 4, 2006, Allen pleaded guilty to one count of misdemeanor theft. David H. Safavian, a former chief of staff of the General Services Administration. Safavian was found guilty of lying and obstructing justice in June 2006. According to a June 21, 2006, article inThe Washington Post, Safavian resigned "days before" his September 2005 arrest. The Postadded that he "was convicted in U.S. District Court ... of covering up his many efforts to assist [disgraced Republican lobbyist Jack] Abramoff in acquiring two properties controlled by the GSA, and also of concealing facts about a lavish weeklong golf trip he took with Abramoff to Scotland and London in the summer of 2002." John T. Korsmo, former chairman of the Federal Housing Finance Board. On April 7, 2005, Korsmo "pleaded guilty to one count of making false statements to the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, which oversees the Finance Board, and the Inspector General for the Finance Board." The Senate committee and inspector general were investigating Korsmo's participation in an October 2002 congressional fundraising event.

Repubs have absolutely nothing, nada, zilch.

This is breaking news???  This clip was from January!  Chung Lee sure hopes we continue this trip back and maybe we can take a look at some of the missteps and scandals during the Bush Administration.  Mission accomplished.  As far as not being transparent, Obama initially tried to but the Republican misinformation campaign and the disruption at the town halls made it impossible to do it the way he wanted.

WASHINGTON -- Embattled Rep. Charles Rangel was hit yesterday with another ethics complaint, accusing him of steering millions of taxpayer dollars to his "cronies" at a politically connected nonprofit -- as first reported by The Post.

The complaint by the National Legal and Policy Center asked for an investigation of the "questionable taxpayer funding" Rangel helped secure for financially unstable Alianza Dominicana to build its new $19 million headquarters.

The complaint also pointed to apparent political payoffs Rangel got from the group's supporters -- including Executive Director Moises Perez, who publicly defended Rangel against ethics complaints in November 2009, just a month after the House passed a Rangel-sponsored $250,000 earmark for the nonprofit.

"Beneath the favoritism which is shown in Rep. Rangel's support of millions of dollars in taxpayer funds to the group . . . there is a mosaic of cronyism which includes tens of thousands of dollars in political donations to Rangel's political committees by the nonprofit's major supporters, officers, and individuals whose firms are directly involved in building and financing of the group's new headquarters," the complaint said.

Rangel, who last month was charged with 13 ethics violations, said he shouldn't have to defend the nonprofit's community-development work.

"It's a rough thing in life where someone makes an allegation and if you say there's just no basis to it then you are defending," he said. "Defense sounds like there's something wrong here and you're supporting something wrong."

A two-year House ethics probe found a "pattern" of rule-breaking by Rangel, including a failure to report $1.7 million in personal assets over the years, not paying taxes on income from a Dominican villa, and using his office to raise money for a center named for himself at CCNY.

Rangel is expected to face a rare House ethics-committee trial next month.

Yes Chung Lee how true!

To be a Teabagger, one should have served America.

It always amazes me how most against Obama proclaim their love for America while they get subsidized in the form of corporate breaks , farm handouts, business loans & more.

Yet when someone who has worked & paid their fair share into the system, the Teabaggers rail against that. Can't have it both ways folks..

Pete

kURT,

You mean the tax breaks and corporate give-aways that Obama, Reid, and Pelosi FAILED to do away with during the almost YEAR they had a lock on the legistlive powers of this country?

kURT

Pete you missed my point. Terry Boose (our elected official in Huron County ) admitted after some prodding that he got farm $$ for US the people. (Norwalk Reflector's blog)

Isn't Terry Boose one of the Teabaggers? Did Terry Boose have migrants working on his farm?

If so, did he pay for their medical care, busing, etc?

Or did we the people? hmm..

Check on that & share the truth.

mikel

note the date of your post there bs.  last time i checked august 10, 2010 came after july 31, 2008!

House Tables Resolution to Censure Rangel
kURT

Pete >>>>>what happened?

Pete

Had a meeting. Sorry I cannot sit here all day

Terry Boose means nothing to me. He is a useless politician like the rest. But what bugs me is when the Corporate Welfare and Tax Break bull is drug out as to blame the R's, I have to ask why the D's did nothing, absolutely nothing at all, to correct it in the almost year they had control of all three parts of the legislative process.

Maybe you can explain why the Democrats failed the American Worker? All I get from the others on here that like to drag that out is the run-around.

ragtop66

Way to go Jack!!!!! I sure hope no body scares you off of CNN like they did Lou Dobbs. Apparently his family was threatened if he didn't lay off some of the issues he was really pounding on.

kURT

Pete my point is this - ALL of them seem 2be dirty - some just more than others.

I blame most of M. Like to think there are a few good elected officials around, thopugh it is causing me grief to come up with some.

To be sure both the Dems & the GOPs aren't worth much. I just had to use Terry Boose to validate my point  that all leaders seem to want THEIR agenda 1rst, not what is best the for the people they are supposed 2SERVE.

Pete

I cannot stand either party. They all lie and cheat and steal as much as they can. And take special interest money to further their own agenda, which is seldom what is best for the average person in this country

It is sad when one has to vote based on what effect it will have on the make-up of congress. I am not a fan of the R's, but will do my best to help them take back the House. Legislative Gridlock is better than when it is all one sided.

And the point of the Tax Breaks really fires me up. It is now used as purely a political tool by the D's. They could have fixed it but decided it was better to use it for a blame tool. And in the mean time factories continue to shut down by the week.

brutus smith

So when in doubt, go back to the party who started the flood of jobs out of the country? In your spare time look up the bills that the House has passed and are waiting for the Senate. They are pending in the Senate because not one, not even one Repub will vote for them. So before you say again the Dems aren't doing anything, research the facts.

Repubs have absolutely nothing, nada, zilch.

Pete

They have failed, and miserably so. They had 11 months to fix this when they coulda passed a bill to make even Tuesday's "Wear Sumpting Purple Day" and they chose not to. And you just demonstrated why: So they could use it for cannon fodder in the upcoming election.

Democrats = Sold out the American Worker for politcal gain

Taxpayer

So the LIBERAL news agency of CNN is finally turning on the boy president?  How can this be???  They have been in the "tank" for socialist 0bama for over two YEARS and NOW they decide to turn on him?  I am sure Jack Cafferty will have sanctions placed upon him for finally reporting the TRUTH.  You liberal freaks don't believe in the TRUTH.  It is NOT in your dictionary.  I have not watched CNN, network TV news, MS-NBC or any of the others because there is NO truth to any of them.  Besides that, you liberals are not watching either because of the basement ratings of all of them.  GO Fox News!!  Ha! Ha!  Things are NOT looking good for all you freeloader, entitled, special, privileged liberals.  Be afraid this Nov., be very afraid.  The worm is definitely turning for YOU!  Boo, hoo, hoo!  Ha! Ha!

Pete

Then how could they pass the health care fiasco? Didn't seem to have an issue with that

Yet they failed to bring forth and pass the bill considered to be the most important thing to save American Jobs? Explain how that could be. Spin it anyway you want. They had 11 months and chose to do nothing to help the average worker. All for political gain.

kURT

We do need to remember this: prior to elections Obama stated we would get out of Iraq, McCain had no real timeline.

Both McCain & Obama stated we would be in Afganistan. Besides human lives, wars are EXPENSIVE.

Pete come on---drug tested? How about Rush ? Or W and the cocaine wrecked Pontiac Firebird of his?

geez........

Pete

I didn't make that statement, Obie's own Press Sec did. I just find it rather amusing!

Sam

This article should been titled" rats jumping from obamanic" the tip of the iceberg will be struck on election day Nov. 2, 2010 and the ship will sink November 2012.  I rather be a "right wing wingnut" than the limp wristed left who doesn't have the stones.

Yeah, look at all those bills that haven't cleared the Senate.  One of them being cap-n-trade, and all I can say is THANK GOD!!

Obama promised to stop the job hemorrhage, yet he and his cronies in Congress would put the final nail in the coffin of our nation's industrial base.  Now THAT'S hypocricy.

For this nation to survive, we have to be able to make things...BESIDES windmills and solar panels.  Yes, the GOP's trade policies have hurt us badly, but this is every bit as bad, if not worse.

One thing is clear.  NEITHER party should have absolute control.  The right will steer us into one set of rocks; the Bush-lite years proved that.  The left will steer us into a different set of rocks; Obama & Co. have proven that.

I'm voting to give Congress back to the GOP, not because I agree with all of their policies, but to balance the gov't before it's too late.

Pete

I'm voting to give Congress back to the GOP, not because I agree with all of their policies, but to balance the gov't before it's too late

Eggsackery how I feel Stormy. As I have said before, it is sad that I must choose who to vote for based on how to lessen the damage caused by one party being in control.

Oh, and as far as blaming all the stuff on R's for the trade imbalance, it was Clinton that pushed for Normalized relations with China. 73 Democrats in the House voted for it, and it passed the Senate by a vote of 83 to 15. Even Kennedy and Kerry in the Senate voted for it. There were more R's voting against it in the Senate than there were Republicans. So who's fault is it really?

Dr. Seuss

Sarah, we can go back to Washington and find skeletons in the closet.  What we need to be concerned with are those that are currently in office and get rid of them.  I mean I can name Byrd (grand dragon of the KKK) and he was permitted in there until death.  Then there is Ted Kennedy, what did dear old Ted do? Oh my that's right, he drove a gal off a bridge and left her to die there.  Got away with murder that guy did.  See this game can go on all day long, however what is important is the here and the now.  I say get the crooks and the bums out of DC. Let the past stand on it's own and let history teach us a lesson if we are willing to learn.

Dr. Seuss

Kurt I don't recall W smashing a car while president due to cocaine useage, and it certainly wouldn't have been a firebird.  It would have been a limo.

ragtop66

ALL politicians are liars and crooks or they wouldn't be in politics..just some worse than others.  I think the last decent one may have been Lincoln.
