Maple Heights ends Sandusky's playoff run
Nov 13
2010
There is fast, and then there is lightning.
The Sandusky football team found that out Friday night in a Division II regional semifinal game against Maple Heights at Avon Lake’s Memorial Stadium as the Mustangs lightning quick offense struck early and often in a 61-27 win.
Sandusky ends the season with an overall record of 7-5 while Maple Heights improved to 12-0 in it’s quest to earn a return trip to the state championship game.
The Mustangs ran for 518 yards on just 29 attempts, good for 17.8 yards per carry.
“They are a fantastic team, and everyone knew how good they were,” Sandusky coach Mike Franklin said of the Mustangs. “Obviously they came out and played real well, and we weren’t able to stop their offense.”

I watched the game last week against Avon and was shocked how a former city commissioner ran his fowl mouth at the kids and SHS coaching staff. Go figure?

It's so sad to see ignorant people (first of duh month) using these annonymous posts to attack high school football teams and their families. Get an education and seek counseling!
I agree - the mass exodus last night of fans was very disapointing. I was hurt for the boys to have to look up and see that. I know, per the boys, that they are crushed in spirit when their "fans" walk on them when they are down. The plus in that was that when the boys looked up - they could clearly see Mama Cole still up there supporting them and cheering them on! Kudos to the fans who stayed and continued to support the boys! Also - it was way cool to see all of the Perkins people out!!! Thank you for your support neighbors that was awesome!!! They made history and have nothing to be sad or ashamed about!!!!
This was an exciting season, and Coach Franklin has been calling this the class to do it since the seniors were freshmen. I'm just proud that they proved him right!!! Nice job to the players!!!
To those who hate on the coaching staff, their job isn't easy and they aren't perfect. But unless you are on that field and know those boys and their strengths and weaknesses like the coaches do (and i promise you they know each boy well and have a bond with each one!) you should not judge our coaches. They are not being paid millions. This is not a pro team. These are good men out on the field taking time (lots of time) away from their families and lives to guide and mold our sons and daughters into great citizens, young adults, parents, students, and professionals. They show them the value of dedication and commitment. These boys are brothers - because they were guided by great leaders and taught how to support and love each other. That is all thanks to the coaches! They may not always make the best play call or get the touchdown - but I assure you the lessons these kids have learned are the goal!!!! GO STREAKS!!!!

Just Like it was said , Sandusky , you have nothin to hang your heads about ,That was one rough team , that no one could have thought could have been that fast .
But still your record for the season speaks for itself , and You can look it at this way , You made it father then Fremont Ross , so hold your heads high and be proud of what you could do , and to the coaches , I hope that for furture games that maybe played you might have taken some notes , Cause it sure couldnt hurt
Best of Luck to the coaches players and school in the up-coming season

61 to 27 is a trouncing! At least Maple Heights gave their THIRD string team a chance at some real practice. The only good game the Streaks had was beating Perkins. I would venture to say Maple Heights stomped out the small spark that was left in the lightning of the Streaks. "There is always next year." We can always "hope" for next season. There was a time when Division IV Sandusky H.S. dominated all of northern Ohio. 61-27? Ouch. Instead of celery sticks before the game, I would have done the exact same thing and loaded the team up on carbs. Pizza or spagetti is perfect!

Dear Sandusky Register:
Eventually I'm sure u will block First of duh Month's IGNORANT comment. But WHY IN THE WORLD DO YOU CONTINUE TO LET HIM POST ON THIS SITE WHEN HE CONTINUOSLY MAKES RACIST/IGNORANT COMMENTS? This isn't the 1st time I've seen him or a couple others make ignorant comments! This is a public site for the world to see and when they read IGNORANT comments what do u think it makes them think about the ppl of Sandusky? This is 2010 and there is still racism and ignorance going on! And you're fueling the fire by letting these lames keep spreading their hate! Shame on you Register! Don't just block the comments...block the users! Its not a good look for you!

Congrats on a great season Blue Streaks! You did yourselves, your school, and the community proud!
To all the "fans" who started leaving the stadium in the third quarter Friday night.......REALLY? This isn't the Cleveland Browns or Cleveland Indians. This is a group of young men who have done something this season that hasn't been done in 20 years. Way to show your support. Kudos to everyone who stayed and cheered the team off the field.

I went to the game and all I can say is "WOW" those Maple Heights kids were fast. Great season Sandusky, from a Perkins football parent.

Really? You really took the time to blame the Sandusky loss on what the coaches fed them the night before? I mean, it couldn't possibly be because they ran into a very talented team? You have to know that your post smacks of ignorance if not out-and-out stupidity. It's nice to be able to stay anonymous, otherwise you wouldn't spout such lame-brained drivel.

THE COACH SHOULD HAVE NOT FED THESE PLAYERS the night before Cameo food. Bad move. They should have ate celery & light dressing at the most the day before. Bad move!!!! Now we have to wait another 20 years. Minus that coaching staff in a big way!!!!!
