The Erie County Sheriff's Office has issued a Level 1 Winter Road Condition Advisory until further notice.

Level 1 - Roadways are hazardous due to accumulated snow or ice. Drive cautiously.

Level 2 - Roadways are hazardous due to blowing and drifting snow and/or ice cover. Only those who believe it is necessary to drive should be on the roadways. Contact your employer to determine if you should report to work.

Level 3 - Roadways are closed to all non-emergency travel due to extremely hazardous conditions. No one should be on the roadway unless it is absolutely essential to travel. Those operating vehicles on the roadway for non-emergency reasons may be subject to arrest.

* WIND CHILL READINGS...15 TO 30 BELOW ZERO WILL BE COMMON MUCH OF TIME.

* IMPACTS...HYPOTHERMIA AND FROSTBITE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

IF YOU WILL BE OUTDOORS USE COMMON SENSE AND DRESS WARMLY...IN LAYERS...MAKING SURE THAT ALL EXPOSED SKIN IS COVERED. AVOID PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THE COLD...IF POSSIBLE TO PREVENT FROSTBITE AND HYPOTHERMIA.

A WIND CHILL WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN A STRONG WIND WILL COMBINE WITH COLD TEMPERATURES TO CREATE DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS FOR EXPOSED SKIN. THE WIND WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS 25 DEGREES BELOW ZERO OR COLDER FOR SEVERAL HOURS.

I surely do wish the Register would put the current dates on these notices so we would know when they apply.
