A Sandusky man was arrested on weapons charges early Sunday morning after he and a friend caused a stir at a Cleveland Road bar.

Dwight Grant, 21, of the 200 block of Lane St., was charged with felonious assault, carrying concealed weapons and having a weapon under disability.

Grant tried to enter DJ’s Sports Bar at about 4 a.m. but was turned away when an employee discovered his.32-caliber revolver while patting him down, according to a Sandusky police report.

Grant walked away, but when a bouncer stepped outside a short while later to make a phone call, Grant thought he was calling police and allegedly pointed the weapon at him, the report said.

The bouncer told Grant he wasn’t scared of him, prompting Grant to slide the gun into his boot and again try to enter the bar, the report said.

As the first employee began to search Grant a second time, the weapon fell out of his pants leg, the report said. The employee confiscated it, but Grant stood at the bar’s doors, demanding the revolver be returned.

Another man then emerged from a Cadillac holding an AK-47. He pointed it toward the ground and told bouncers, “Give my boy his gun back” the report said.

When employees told the men Sandusky police were on their way, the man in the Cadillac drove off, while Grant waited outside the bar.

When officers arrived, witnesses pointed them to Grant. He fled into the bar but was caught before he reached the dance floor. When officers asked why he ran, Grant said, “I’m just trying to get my baby mama” the report said.

Officers gave a description of the Cadillac to other police agencies, but neither the vehicle nor its driver were found.

Grant was taken to the Erie County jail and held on on $35,000 bond.

And yet some wonder why there is a dim view of young people of color

Another punk who we will end up supporting either in jail or on welfare.

@George Google is paying 75$/hour! Just work for few hours & have more time with friends and family. On Sunday I bought themselves a Alfa Romeo from having made $5637 this month. I never thought I'd be able to do it but my best friend earns over 10k a month doing this and she convinced me to try this http://7.ly/c8Rr

So you only see minorities in trouble. You only see what you want.

When is the State and City going to shut it down?

hey come on now..maybe they just got done with a basketball game and were mad at the outcome...you know like the kids in the apt complex...

Why is this place allowed to be open all night? If this is a bar operating as a rental party hall the city commission needs to pass laws governing the operating hours of such establishments.

Shut it down. It's been a constant source of police calls in the early morning hours.

Simple Enough II

What no security cameras? Also I bet it wasn't an AK-47 as a true AK-47 is fully automatic and I would hazard to guess, that idiot would have blown the floorboards out of hakim's or jarreese's caddy. Hmm can't be to many caddies of that color in Erie county?

Technically an AK-47 is selective fire. It can fire fully automatic and semi auto, it doesn't do a 3 shot burst like an m-14 or m-16. I had to think on it as I don't see any "real" AK-47's anymore just derivatives and variants of the original.

I stand corrected, thank you grumpy.

Stop It

That's how Stoop It recognizes them so well.

That place needs to be shut down! Liquor license needs to be revoked! Too much crime at that bar!

Then the thugs will just disperse to various other places around the city. A bar like that is like flypaper - it gathers all the thugs in one place where it's easier to keep an eye on them. Don't eliminate the bar - eliminate the market for it. When these thugs get convicted of thuggish misdemeanors, give them a choice of jail or a one way bus ticket out of town, jail sentence suspended as long as they don't come back. Let them ply their criminality in the big cities, not here.

Just misunderstood youf of sandumpy!

There you go again

Hmmm, I wonder what disability he suffers from that the article refers to?!?!

BULLISDEEP's picture

Means he was drunk or on drugs. The new way they write it up when having a weapon and being drunk or on drugs.

2923.13 Having weapons while under disability.

(1) The person is a fugitive from justice.

(2) The person is under indictment for or has been convicted of any felony offense of violence or has been adjudicated a delinquent child for the commission of an offense that, if committed by an adult, would have been a felony offense of violence.

(3) The person is under indictment for or has been convicted of any felony offense involving the illegal possession, use, sale, administration, distribution, or trafficking in any drug of abuse or has been adjudicated a delinquent child for the commission of an offense that, if committed by an adult, would have been a felony offense involving the illegal possession, use, sale, administration, distribution, or trafficking in any drug of abuse.

I don't see anything positive coming from that "bar."
