Man in back of cruiser suffers minor head injuries

A car struck a Sandusky police cruiser at East Monroe Street and Columbus Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

A prisoner who was in the back of the police cruiser was taken to Firelands Regional Medical Center for treatment after suffering a possible head injury.

The car and the cruiser were both headed south on Columbus Avenue when the car pulled into a turning lane and struck the back of the cruiser. A citation has yet to be issued, as the police department forwarded the crash report to the city prosecutor's office for review. 

The driver of the police cruiser was Officer Major Ruffin. The name of the prisoner was not immediately available.
