50 years ago, 1964: A pedestrian causeway between Put-in-Bay's Oak Point at the northern tip of the island and the island of Gibraltar was be constructed within the next two years according to Mayor James Poulos. 

25 years ago, 1989: Cedar Point's Magnum XL-2000 roller coaster was measured for the Guinness Book of World Records and found to be the world's tallest, fastest and steepest roller coaster. 

10 years ago, 2004: Inc. received U.S. Patent No. 6,735568, which described a "method and system for identifying people who were likely to have a successful relationship."
