50 years ago, 1964: Wally's Food Town on Perkins Avenue was advertising pork chops for 59 cents per pound, white bread 7 loaves for $1, small turkeys for 49 cents per pound, and Donald Duck frozen orange juice 5 for $1.

25 years ago, 1989: Christine Jorgensen, who scandalized the world in 1952 by acknowledging she went to Denmark as a man and returned as a women, died of cancer. She insisted the cancer was not caused by her sex-change operation. She was 62.

10 years ago, 2004: At the Movies: "Mean Girls" with Lindsay Lohan, "Man on Fire" with Denzel Washington, "13 Going on 30" with Jennifer Garner, "Laws of Attraction" starring Pierce Brosnan, and "Kill Bill - Vol. 2" with Uma Thurman.
