50 years ago, 1964: As it has for decades, New York City  turned Fifth Avenue over to the sons of Erin for their annual parade in honor of their patron saint - Patrick. Some 150,000 paraders were on call for the parade, one of the most colorful observances in the world.

25 years ago, 1989: Perkins High School science teacher John Blakeman released a red-tailed hawk that he cared for after an infection to a claw nearly claimed the hawk's life.

10 years ago, 2004: Prince, Bob Seger, Jackson Browne, George Harrison, ZZ Top, Traffic and the Dells were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Re: "Bob Seger"

Saw him at the old Hollywood Sportatorium with Teegarden and Van Winkle in the early 70s.

Stop It

I used to like Bob Seger in the 70's until his stuff became overplayed in the 80's. Now I change the station if his stuff comes on the radio.

Re: "overplayed in the 80's"

I wasn't a fan of his "Silver Bullet Band" yrs. myself. Too much over orchestration.

"Back in '72." Great album that he's never released as a cd.

I always loved Bob - one of the first concerts I ever went to. Sorry Bob - didn't mean to misspell your name!
