50 years ago, 1964: The Beatles, Britain's rock 'n' rollers with the haystack hairdos, blew up a teen-age storm upon their arrival at Kennedy International Airport. About 3,000 shrieking, hooky-playing fans strained against police barricades to welcome the singing quartet.

25 years ago, 1989: Congress refused to give itself a 51 percent pay raise under threat of voter retaliation, but members held out hope President Bush would suggest a less generous but more politically acceptable salary increase.

10 years ago, 2004: Home Depot rolled open the doors of its new store in Sandusky with a steady stream of customers making their way though the 125,000 square foot store and garden center.
