50 years ago, 1963: Teenagers say the darndest things, compiled from local teachers: Veterinarians are animals that were in the war; Three communicable diseases are mumps, typhoid and TV; Rats carry blue bonnet plague; "Hasn't" and "Doesn't" are contraptions.

25 years ago, 1988: About 100 unionized employees of Perkins Township's Sandusky Dressed Beef Co., were to loose their jobs effective Dec. 17 if they did not agree to the new contract they had already voted down.

10 years ago, 2003: Three people spent Halloween in jail, accused of staging a murder and making two women believe they were about to be shot before revealing it was all a prank. Authorities say they copied the idea from the cable television show "Scare Tactics."
