50 years ago, 1963: The United Nations again rejected membership from Communist China in a vote hailed by the United States as a clear indication of opposition to the Peking regime. It was the 14th time the General Assembly rejected or sidetracked Peking's admission.

25 years ago, 1988: By Nov. 17, 1988, automobile windows with tinted or reflectorized glass had to be converted to standard tinting under a new state law. The law applied to passenger cars, jeeps, vans, mini-vans, recreational vehicles and limousines.
