50 years ago, 1963: Hoping to capitalize on the presence of President Kennedy in Saigon, Buddhist monks demonstrated against President Ngo Dinh Diem's government. Combat police quickly clubbed the monks and crushed the uprising.

25 years ago, 1988: Holy Angels Church began celebrating its 150th year with special masses. Religious Sisters, past and present, were to be honored, followed by a tribute to the church's founding father, the Rev. Joseph Machebeuf.

10 years ago, 2003: Passengers in a private airplane discovered a series of circular designs in the soybean fields of Ohio farmer Dale Mark. Mark did not believe in aliens and wanted restitution for the $1,200 worth a damage to his soybean crop.
