50 years ago, 1963: A 36-foot cabin cruiser ran aground on the Cedar Point jetty. When the Coast Guard investigated they found 30 bottles of whiskey and 70 bottles of beer from Canada hidden around the craft. The boat's owner was detained for questioning.

25 years ago, 1988: The commemorative plates and pins celebrating Erie County's 150th Birthday were available at the Birthday Float at the Erie County Fair. The limited edition collectors items were $6 for the plate and $2 for the pins.

10 years ago, 2003: Erie County looked at using grant money from Homeland Security to purchase warning sirens for the Firelands area. It was estimated that $152,000 would purchase seven sirens to warn of terrorism, weapons of mass destruction, or weather related emergencies.

Ummm, I don't believe the pictured boat is even from '63. Looks like about an 89' Bayliner.
