50 years ago, 1963: Erie County Schools were in need of 13 teachers before the new year. Huron had five vacancies, salaries ranged from $4,400-$7,100. Margaretta also had five spots to fill, with salaries running $4,500-$8,100. Milan needed only one teacher in the $4500-$6500 range. And Perkins was looking for two teachers for around $4600-$8000.

25 years ago, 1988: Farmers in Erie and Huron counties received free hay from South Carolina and North Carolina. The hay was supplied by farmers who received donated hay from Ohio in 1986 and was brought to the state by trucks donated by NASCAR auto racing teams and private donors.

10 years ago, 2003: A Huron County Sheriff's deputy was suspended for 30 days without pay for allegedly spinning out the tires in a sheriff's cruiser at a Roeder Harley-Davidson Inc. party. An unidentified woman rode with the deputy and even flashed her upper torso at the crowd.
