50 years ago, 1963: For Sale: One hotel in downtown Sandusky, 120 rooms, complete kitchen, furnished lounges and parking lot. Administrator of the estate said the city's biggest hostelry had a $350,000 price tag. Plans were announced last winter to refurbish the hotel, but claims against the estate made that impossible.

25 years ago, 1988: Magilla's, the non-alcohol, non-smoking, dance club for teens opened its doors, offering the 13-21 year-old crowd a place to dance the night away. It offered 13 different lighting effects for over 300 lights above the giant wooden dance floor.

10 years ago, 2003: The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation refunded nearly $300,000 to companies in Erie County for payments made to a defunct state fund. The reimbursements were part of a $66 million refund the BWC was giving to employers from across the state.
