50 years ago, 1963: Sandusky's Burger Chef was advertising seven cheeseburgers for 99 cents to promote their new car ports, with the slogan "Have a Picnic in our Lot." The special ran through the weekend.

25 years ago, 1988: Sack'nSave, a warehouse-style supermarket with low prices and 24-hour shopping, opened in the Sandusky Plaza. The 29,000-square foot store was located where Pick-n-Pay and Odd Lots once stood.

10 years ago, 2003: A container ship en route from China to Seattle lost a shipment of 29,000 rubber duckies in 1992. The toys were adrift for 11 years, reaching the Bering Strait in 1995, Iceland in 2000, and started washing up on the New England coast in 2003.
