50 years ago, 1963: Built to replace the landmark dance hall at Ruggles Beach, seven miles west of Vermilion, which was destroyed by fire several years ago, was the newly completed building call The Note.

25 years ago, 1988: Shooters on the Water racked up over 20 complaints in the 33 days since it opened. Residents complained about live bands and wanted the music to stay inside. The police said they could not do anything about the noise, it fell under a commission responsibility. City Solicitor Kevin Baxter said the city did not have a "noise ordinance."

10 years ago, 2003: After a year of construction, Wal-Mart rolled open the doors of its newly expanded Supercenter. In addition to extending its operation to 24 hours, the store added several new features including a grocery store, nail salon, Kids Connection and Smart Style hair salon.

Re: "disco"?

Drove by, NEVER went in.

Also: The Barn, The Cellar and German Village.

I remember that the band "IZZ" was pretty much the house band at The Barn.

"Telegraph Road" used to play at The Cellar A LOT. They did a nice verson of the Stones' "Bitch."

"If it's too loud, you're too old" Yeah and if it "like" sounds melodic (like music, ya know) with "like" lyrics you can understand ya know, TOO OLD TOO.

You both said it!!!! Nothing like crankin' up a little Led Zep on the 8-track!! :}

Smoke on the Water and Free Bird too !
Man that was a lot of fun

The Big Dog's back

My Woman from "Toe-Kay-O". Space truckin'. In a gadda da vida. Oh yeah.

Those were the good 'ol days for that side of town. I helped to open Shooter's. We did 30k per weekday and about 50k per weekend day. The place was just nuts from open to close!

Yeah I miss those days! And 3.2 beer- oh God, horrible, horrible stuff!!!
