50 years ago, 1963: A skull found by children in Sandusky Bay off White's Landing was examined by County Coroner Dr. Jack Walker. He announced the skull was of a child, either white or Indian, and at least 200 years old or more. Parts of the bone had petrified.

25 years ago, 1988: Tony Legando was named head football coach in Huron. The former assistant coach at St. Mary Central Catholic, Huron, and Sandusky was named as the top guy at his alma mater. Huron Board of Education named the 1969 Huron graduate to succeed Coach Tony Munafo.

10 years ago, 2003: Velvet-voiced R&B crooner Barry White, whose lush baritone and throbbing musical compositions oozed sex appeal died, he was 58. White, who had kidney failure from years of high blood pressure, had been hospitalized since a September, 2002, stoke.
