50 years ago, 1963: Disturbances of any kind would not be tolerated at Nickel Plate Park or any public place in the city, Mayor Pat Gioffre said at a night court session. Two men were fined $50 and costs each for disturbing the peace at Nickel Plate Park earlier in the week.

25 years ago, 1988: Mike Tyson dropped opponent Michael Spinks twice in the first round at Atlantic City, N.J., scoring the fourth quickest knockout in heavyweight championship history. Tyson ended the bout in 91 seconds before a sellout crowd. Tyson earned a record purse of $20 million, Spinks made $13.5 million.

10 years ago, 2003: Erie County Chamber of Commerce awarded Roeder Harley-Davidson as the 2003 Business of the Year at the annual meeting at Radisson Harbour Inn. Will Roeder accepted the award and dedicated to his father, the late George Roeder.
