50 years ago, 1963: Sandusky police investigated a messy vandalism report. At Herb's Sportsman Supplies, Meigs Street, a storage tank full of minnows was flooded when someone opened all the water taps. All the fish were killed.
25 years ago, 1988: A man who stole a turkey to feed his hungry family for Thanksgiving was sentenced to read "Les Miserables," the classic novel about a man who was enslaved for stealing a loaf of bread. Cuyahoga County Common Please Judge Carl Character also ordered the man to give a report on the book.
10 years ago, 2003: The Erie County CASA Program honored two volunteers for their service at a banquet in their honor at Plum Brook Country Club. Gene Schiedl received the Honorary Life Member Award and Suzy Smercina was presented with the Esther Sutton Volunteer of the Year Award.
