10 years ago, 2003: U.S. forces launched their long-awaited war against Saddam Hussein, targeting him personally with a barrage of cruise missiles and bombs as a prelude to invasion. Iraq responded hours later, firing missiles toward American troops positioned just across its border in Kuwait.

Way to go Beertracker,if you don't believe it ain't true, is this the new DNC ploy?

The Big Dog's back

No way, no how did they come from Iraq. You don't think our satellite imagery would have picked that up? We can see someone in their home from a satellite.

Maggdi

So are you saying you think Syria has WMD BD?

The Big Dog's back

No. But so what if they do?

Maggdi

Is your point BD that it's no one else's business what they do in their own country?

deertracker

Sounds like good sense to me to mind your own business. America is not the world police. Other countries, non allies, believe they need protection from the U.S.

mikel

right, wrong or indifferent we had this conflict. almost every war/conflict this country has been involved in has been for equal or lesser reasons. 'nam, korea, ww2 (except for japan), ww1. why? none of those countries attacked us. we need to learn to keep our noses out of other countries.

we pay the u.n. $$$$$millions$$$$$ per year. let them do their job and police the world.

deertracker

Agreed!!!!!!

Please check out "Iraq War Vet pens last letter to Bush and Cheney". I was deployed there twice and I could not have said it better myself!

Cowboy

Here it is.....I write this letter, my last letter, to you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney. I write not because I think you grasp the terrible human and moral consequences of your lies, manipulation and thirst for wealth and power. I write this letter because, before my own death, I want to make it clear that I, and hundreds of thousands of my fellow veterans, along with millions of my fellow citizens, along with hundreds of millions more in Iraq and the Middle East, know fully who you are and what you have done. You may evade justice but in our eyes you are each guilty of egregious war crimes, of plunder and, finally, of murder, including the murder of thousands of young Americans—my fellow veterans—whose future you stole.

Cowboy

I forgot the most important thing.......thank you for your service bucknut36.

goofus

Really? I thought this was written to LBJ for Vietnam!!!!

deertracker

You are excused goofy!!

Hopperthe2nd

Maggdi, how old are you?

Maggdi

Old enough to have watched our Astronauts walk on the moon. And remember heated discussions between my parents and oldest sister over Vietnam.

Hopperthe2nd

My age then. How did you misinterpret that banner. What about when the said that combat is over (paraphrased) how many died after that boldfaced lie?

Maggdi

I understood it to mean that the heavy combat with the Iraqi military was over. But always understood that wasn't going to be the end of non uniformed combatants. Do I, at this point, think it was worth the blood of our men and women? If Iraq turns into another thug nation then I will have to concede that it was not and that the only way for a nation to become productive and peaceful is at the hands of it's own people. You know like the Arab Spring!

deertracker

Iraq already is a thug nation. I will give GWB credit for negotiating an end to the war and OBAMA for ending it!

Maggdi

Does that mean Obama gets credit for the aforementioned Arab Spring? And all it's consequences? Egypt, Libya, Syria....

The Big Dog's back

Yes.

Maggdi

The Coptic Christians won't be thanking him. Nor the freedom seeking youth. And apparently very many other Arabs feel the same way. It seems, according to recent surveys we are dislike more today then we were 4yrs ago.

deertracker

There is no "Arab Spring" in Syria and I prefer to give the Egyptian and Libyan people credit for standing up for their right to freedom. TOUCHING how your heart bleeds for the Arabs that supposedly hate us.

Maggdi

I don't think the people who started resisting Bashar would agree with you as to their motivation for initiating their resistance to his regime. And let's agree that this administration helped in both Egypt and Libya..?... And let's forget how they're all being overrun by radical Islamist...

deertracker

It's not our business.

The Big Dog's back

And we are better off after this how?
