Linkenbach, Gillett try to make an impact as professionals

Chiefs offensive lineman Jeff Linkenbach, a 2005 Margaretta graduate, attempts to block linebacker Dee Ford during an Aug. 11 practice in St. Joseph, Mo. After spending four seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, Linkenbach signed with Kansas City on March 12. He started 33 of 60 career games for the Colts, including five last season. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had high praise for Linkenbach on Monday, saying, “He’s been one of those guys that’s done a nice job here in the last week or two here.
 
Packers wide receiver Alex Gillett, a 2009 Clyde graduate, makes a catch during an Aug. 2 practice in Green Bay, Wis. Gillett spent last season on the team’s practice squad, and is again trying to make the team this season. He caught a 15-yard touchdown pass during Friday’s game vs. Oakland.
