A teenage girl reported years of alleged ongoing sexual abuse at the hands of a Florence Township man.

Erie County deputies were informed the suspect may have fled Ohio after he learned the allegations came to light, Erie County Chief Deputy Jared Oliver said.

The girl came forward with her story Tuesday, alleging the man, now 61, engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with her between the ages of 8 and 12 at his Ohio 60 home.

During that time, the man also forced her to inappropriately touch him, Oliver said. The alleged abuse ended about three years ago.

Deputies interviewed the child Tuesday, and though they tried to speak with the suspect as well, they were unable to reach him. The man continued to ignore investigators’ phone calls, and deputies later received information the man may have fled the state.
